"We installed a lot of them. Now they are ALL failing."
I own an hvac company in Ontario Canada. A few years back, we were convinced by our supplier to install Laars boilers. What a huge mistake. Almost every one has been a nightmare. The Endurance is one of the worst units I've ever had the misfortune to work on. The corrosive condensate collects in the bottom of the heat exchanger. This is where the ignitor/flame rod assembly and venter motor are located. The condensate, being acidic, makes quick work of them. I have ended up fixing them, over and over, at my own cost, out of guilt for installing them. Laars is completely useless! They will never admit that there was a huge design flaw in this unit, as well as almost all of their equipment. Laars commercial boilers are, believe it or not, even WORSE! The Mighty Therm 2? I'll be lucky if these don't bankrupt me! They self destruct. They EAT ignitors, and the burners disintegrate every year or so. Laars excuse for this was that the boiler combustion was not set up properly. BS!! They were meticulously adjusted on install and even double checked by another company! The burners melt themselves, the burner compartment and case. It's a major job to tear them down and rebuild them every year or so. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE LAARS AGAIN.

"Laars Mascot - poor quality"
My general contractors "heating guy" installed a Laars Mascot boiler for my in floor heating system four years ago. He did not consult with me on the unit. The mother board blew and the repair bill in total was $1,200. Please read the other reviews and take some advice away. These are poorly built units with a manufacturer who turns a blind eye to know issues. Buy anything else. It really doesn't matter. If you have a Laars - get it serviced every year or more. Next repair I'm smashing the unit and sending it back to the manufacturer.

"Thinking about replacing already."
We bought this brand new condo 7 years ago. The unit has been a nightmare. My wife's brother has plumbing/heating business. Everytime he has had to work on this furnace, he has called laars and the first thing they tell him is to replace the most expensive part or they don't give him any help troubleshooting. This week we had to put in a new circulation pump and then only after the 2nd call to laars did tell there was a problem with the water flow switch. It is running ok for now, but we are considering putting a new furnace the next time something goes wrong. We are tired of throwing good money away.

"Hydronic Boilers Laars"
Have a laars jvs 160 nk hu 2 installed: after a year of operation the boiler stared to leak, (I was thinking condensation). I was wrong. Second winter roller in, the boiler failed on 30 of Dec, went to see what going on. The boiler had been on fire, all of the controls are blacken, black smoke stain all over the walls. The circuit breaker did not trip and the wiring looked like brunet spaghetti, burnet plastic smell all over the house, the heating core was leaking and water was dripping on the gas burners. There is a 12 inch vent a with a T drip pan, (up to code or LAARS installation standards). The plumber removed the boiler LAARS electric damper was stuck open, the vent was open on the outside of the house (The LAARS REP said: they have see roll outs that were cause by snow covering the vent” Not the case here”). The panel that has LAARS controls on, shows positive signs of electrical ARC FLASH from the control board. (They only warranty the boars for 1 year). The heating core is clearly leaking and now they came back and tell us that they will not stand by their warranty unless we buy another boiler from them, plus the factory has to prove that fire was caused by poor workman ship of the boiler. The company is forcing us to buy their product again, I feel like we are working with cartel! From my experience; LAARS customer services earn a rating 1 out of a scale of 1 to 10. The company controls boards are made from third world country and have a life cycle design of 1 year. As to the heating core all I can say if the board are a extra poor grade then the heating core is to. And they will take you for a ride and rape your wallet. Never buy a LAARS boiler and replace the one you have before there a ARC FLASH in your house

"HOME INSPECTOR WARNED ME"
My house was built 12 years ago and a laars was installed. When I purchased this home 6 months ago the home inspector warned me about this boiler. He also said it has about a 15 year life span. The repair tech tried a new control panel and pump, still no heat. By 6pm on New Years Eve they said there was nothing else they could do until Wednesday when they could contact tech support. The repair total so far is $ 1,400. Decided to put the $ 1,400 to a new boiler rather than continuing to trouble shoot. My inspector was right on the money!

"Run from Laars"
My Laars Mini Therm boiler is 4 or 5 years old. Last year I spent $1.200 in repairs. This year the unit broke down in mid November and service people are uncertain what the problem is after 8 hours. The house is very cold and I am very dissatisfied. If the unit can be repaired I will hope it runs until next fall when I replace it. Laars is not on my list of brands I'll be looking at and I will warn everyone in the market for a boiler to avoid anything built by Laars.

"Laars never ever buy"
I have a 2 500 000 btu laars for my 60 unit apartment building that replaced the original install Volcano flame tube boiler. This laars thing is the biggest pile of junk I have ever bought. After first winter season on warranty replaced the controller board and the ignitor, 2 ignitors the second year and every year there after. Now this is the start of season 6 and one more ignitor. Very big inconvenience over the years as I have to to show up and reset the boiler. Every summer the thing needs to be opened up and worked on from controllers, ignitors, copper coil cleaning, low fire aquastats, leaking copper welds, failed internal water pump impeller. Ive spent $28000 in repairs on this piece of garbage since the install in October 2007. The old Volcano was completely reliable and trust worthy never that call in the middle of the night for heat. The consumption with the volcano was 100000 m3 of gas for the year, the laars brought the burn down to 70000 m3. Now that's 30% less but anything that I saved went into repair and frustration. This will be the last year and I'm going to get rid of it as soon as this winter is over. I will try and get some kind of compensation but who knows...

"Another circuit board"
In two years I have replaced the circuit board three times and the flame sensor twice. There is something wrong here??? No warranty on circuit boards??? I can see why.
