"Run from Laars"
My Laars Mini Therm boiler is 4 or 5 years old. Last year I spent $1.200 in repairs. This year the unit broke down in mid November and service people are uncertain what the problem is after 8 hours. The house is very cold and I am very dissatisfied. If the unit can be repaired I will hope it runs until next fall when I replace it. Laars is not on my list of brands I'll be looking at and I will warn everyone in the market for a boiler to avoid anything built by Laars.

"Laars never ever buy"
I have a 2 500 000 btu laars for my 60 unit apartment building that replaced the original install Volcano flame tube boiler. This laars thing is the biggest pile of junk I have ever bought. After first winter season on warranty replaced the controller board and the ignitor, 2 ignitors the second year and every year there after. Now this is the start of season 6 and one more ignitor. Very big inconvenience over the years as I have to to show up and reset the boiler. Every summer the thing needs to be opened up and worked on from controllers, ignitors, copper coil cleaning, low fire aquastats, leaking copper welds, failed internal water pump impeller. Ive spent $28000 in repairs on this piece of garbage since the install in October 2007. The old Volcano was completely reliable and trust worthy never that call in the middle of the night for heat. The consumption with the volcano was 100000 m3 of gas for the year, the laars brought the burn down to 70000 m3. Now that's 30% less but anything that I saved went into repair and frustration. This will be the last year and I'm going to get rid of it as soon as this winter is over. I will try and get some kind of compensation but who knows...

"Another circuit board"
In two years I have replaced the circuit board three times and the flame sensor twice. There is something wrong here??? No warranty on circuit boards??? I can see why.

"Piece of Crap"
If you want to spend at least $1,000 a year, ever year, replacing worn out parts on your boiler, then the laars boiler is for you. Good luck finding somebody who knows how to fix them. STAY AWAY!

""THE GOOD OLD DAYS""
July 16 (daddy's birthday) When my mother purchased a laars edp boiler 15 yrs ago, we thought we were installing a Cadillac to replace the pieced together collection of used parts my plumber daddy installed over the years. He had disabled all of the safety interlocks on the boiler and made strange noises in the middle of the night. I used to have nightmares about our house burning down because of that boiler in the basement. Well comparing the old piece of junk my daddy installed over the years with the nice new laars boiler, I think we could easily say the cost has driven up astronomically. We likely could have operated the old system for 50 more years for the same money mom has spent on the initial installation and repair costs for the several thousand dollar replacement components over these 15 yrs. The bad part about it is I didn’t read all of these 15 terrible consumer reports before telling the repair man to bring us a replacement control unit module. Sadly it is probably just a $2 capacitor that needs fixing, but mom will have to shell out $1100 to replace the whole control module to able her to again wash her face with hot water. The good old days really were great! Daddy's old furnace was noisy and looked like junk, but it ran better and cheaper than mom's new replacement Cadillac.

"TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY"
When we built our retirement home in 2003-2004... we thought we were putting in a high-end system that would be efficient, cost effective and give us years of good service. We were wrong! The Laars Endurance ebp 110 has cost us literally thousands in repairs and parts. We had our first issue 27 months after installation. The flame igniter has been replaced 6 times now, the actuator valve & switch replaced, inducer ventor motor burner column replaced. The warranty on parts is generally 1 year and they need to be replaced after 1 year no doubt about it! We have had no success with Laars Canada except to say that the techs you speak to on the phone are very nice but can offer no guarantee of hope for resolving any of the on-going issues with this system. No one wants to admit there is a design flaw! We are now keeping this system going until May (using parts from other Laars systems that have been scrapped by their owners)and will put in a furnace, hot water tank and some other system where we can utilize the hydronics in our basement. To say we are frustrated, angry and disappointed is understating our situation.

"Never Again!"
I have never been so disappointed in a piece of equipment as I am with this Laars EBP110 boiler. I began having problems with it after only 4 years. It is continually Locking Out and my serviceman can not find out why. He has even called the company itself, to no avail. I have had to replace the circuit board twice and the ignitor 4 times. Once after only 6 months. The cost of all the service calls would have been astronomical if it weren't for the wonderful serviceman who doesn't charge me for every call out. I would have been in the poor house years ago if that were the case. Some weeks he is here at least 3 times. I am now looking at having it replaced, but have not decided on a suitable replacement yet. I'm dong my homework this time.

"Dont buy it!"
Nothing has been good about this Laars EBP110 model. We had it new 5 years ago and are finally replacing it with another brand. The company seems to think it couldn't possibly be there problem, even when seasoned technicians are telling me otherwise.
