Built new gaeage last year / My wife did all the manifold soldier. We mounted the system as per instructions . 36x30 slab . 24/7 70 degrees/ About $40 a month fuel cost . Only 2 5/8 350 x2 runs/. My old furanance man said I didn't install enough tubing . He was wrong. I also purposely mounted the all in one intake exhaust flew with intake air on the bottom installer said condensation would run into unit . I told him he was insane . After the heating season was going strong . In Jan . He came over and inspected it for condensation . and paid me the wager we made. $1000 that I would get condensation back into unit . Didn't happen can't happen and I won't tell him why . But great unit never a problem and its heats great and cheap. My whole system including floor tubbing and instalation came to $5,500 mE and wife did all the work . First time . Every time.

"Munchkin Boiler"
My Munchkin has worked great. I had the fo9 occur when I first purchased 3 or 4 times. I undo two screws and pulled out the flame detector. I used steel wool to brush the unit. A rust looking film collects on the unit. The steel wool will wipe off and the unit has worked great. Preventive maintenance every 6 months. Takes about 10 minutes. Be sure to turn off power and unplug the spart plug.

"m140-lp"
In late 2005, we decided to build an addition to a very small 2 bedroom home. It was heated with a monitor from the time the home was built in 1996. After much consideration, I chose to install a Munchkin m140. I am not an HVAC contractor but got much advise from a qualified person. We reto'ed the old structure with base board heat and the new building is radiant. Some hard wood floor and a garage that is concrete. The system has 7 zones total one of wich is dhw 60gal superstor. we have almost 3k sqft of heated space and live in Maine. We use about 700-800 gallons of lp per year. We have had only 1 issue with this unit and it was caused by a poorly planed exhaust outlet (my fault) This was taken care of and it runs beautifully. I would and will highly recommend this unit to anyone. I find that many of the issue with these units are installation errors or poorly trained techs.

FYI - Munchkin, Knight, Trinity, Triangle tube, I can buy any boiler and don't need to have factory certification to buy. NO manufacturer requires training to buy their product. IF they did require training, then the buyer would just buy from the company that did not require training. I have taken the classes on many of these different boilers just to have the knowledge to properly install and service the different boilers. As far as warranty - Go out and buy a brand new BMW and then fill it up with crap gas and don't ever change the oil. When it pukes take it back - Do you expect them to repair it for free ??? YOUR boilers weren't properly installed. ALL of the high efficient boilers have some of the same issues. They all need yearly service. If more than that, you have an improperly installed or serviced boiler. If the service company can't find out what is wrong and just starts changing parts, you have the wrong servicer. If the plastic parts are going bad, the boiler is sucking up it's own exhaust gases. The one known problem with Munchkins is on the 2004 T50/T80 models. If you are losing the plastic parts, blower assembly or 925 controller - First check for separation of the intake and vent pipes. I want to see at least 18 inches of vertical separation. If this is proper, then fire up the boiler and have the service person test for CO between the heat exchanger and the back of the boiler. If the boiler is set up properly at high fire, there should be 100 PPM CO inside the vent pipe. I have seen as high as 60 PPM CO behind the heat exchanger. This is the only known problem due to improper design. Munchkin WILL replace these bad boilers.

I am an HVAC contractor. I am a certified Munchkin installer/ tech. Over the last 6 years, my company has installed about 15 Munchkins. So far, we have had no major problems with the ones we have installed---We have been called on ones installed by others and like some of the above reviews--have had the manufactures Rep. to help with the troubleshooting . Usually, it's been a "dirt problem in the drain or the gas pressures were not set correctly. If the system has been installed and the set up procedures followed---The boiler should be fairly trouble free. Getting them serviced according to the maintenance & yearly service suggestions ---- would be a great help in stopping emergency problems. I wonder how many of the above "very unsatisfied" had the units serviced and drains flushed on a yearly schedule. I checked the oil in a friends car--it was coal black---had trouble dripping off the "Stick"----He couldn't remember ever getting the oil changed. Must be a human trait??

"Munchkin installer"
Again --- The F09 fault code is NEVER a problem with the boiler. IF you are having constant F09 fault codes, it is the fault of the installation or the lack of proper (qualified) service. If you have repeated F09 fault codes and the service company you are using keeps coming out. GET A NEW SERVICE COMPANY I repair bad installs every year that have monthly if not weekly service problems. After repairing the install, it is unusual for the boiler to need more than the yearly tune up. THIS IS NOT BS - I DO THIS FOR A LIVING IF you hire a lawyer, you are in for a big surprise when they bring out the experts and you find out that your boiler isn't installed properly or hasn't been serviced properly.

"My Munchkin"
I have had my Munchkin for 5 years. It was installed by a guy who did Munchkin and nothing else. I had my very first f9 problem today. I stumbled upon this thread while researching how to get my boiler running again, since I couldn't find the guy who did the original install. By consulting my owners manual and reading the info on this site, I had her up and running within 4 hours, including the 1.5 hour round trip to the HVAC supply store. Total cost was 20 bucks. So far, it's been a reliable unit.

"Munchkin MC80 propane fired boiler"
I heard before I purchased that it was critical to get a qualified installer and I did. Gas company wanted $12,000 to bring gas to my house because I'm the last house on the street. I went with propane. Works great. I got no-interest financing from Enerbank. Now my hot water and heating and the monthly payments on the purchase of the system combines to annual cost about half of my prior spend on old oil burner and electric hot water, so I'm a happy camper. The bad reviewers are people who failed to do their homework regarding installers. If you bought a bmw, would you let the kid next door work on it?

"Munchkin 199M"
Installed boiler as new system heats radiant floor system and hot water coils on forced air system heats domestic hot water. Never had a single service issue with this unit. Unit runs all year. Maintenance is minimal. Set up for propane gas. This unit is very technically advanced and I would not recommend this type of system for the "set it and forget it" customer. If this unit is not installed correctly and maintained, it will cause you heartache. But properly installed and maintained, it will work very well.

"Profesional install"
Chris - You said that your boiler was professionally installed. But then you tell us to never use so and so plumbing co. I read all of the time about plumbers installing boilers. Nothing against plumbers (there are many that are qualified) but most that I have met could properly install a cast iron boiler but would properly screw up the installation of any high eff. boiler. High eff. boilers must be installed by someone that understands how they must be installed and with no cut corners. How is your boiler vented? Is the intake next to the exhaust pipe. I install the intake at least 18 inches above the intake or as much as 6 ft. downwind of the intake
