"Another broken block!! 2 Down!!"
Bought this new boiler 11 years ago and replaced the first block after five years and the second block lasted six years. They replaced the first block but I paid $2300 for installation. Now here I am awaiting facing the next install bill and not sure if the block is warranted.

"Four Boilers in 9 years"
Brand new boiler in December 2003. In 2007 it blew a hole in it. They replaced it with the same make and model. Of course we pay for installation - $800.00. In January 2012 the third boiler again blew a hole in it. Makes sense -same make and model of the first two defective boilers. Why would the third boiler be any different? I could expand greatly on this! Bottom line these boilers were defective but yet they were still distributed regardless. I personally hope anyone who reads this passes this comment along with all the other negative reviews this company has had which totally supersedes the positive reviews.

"Ownet"
We had our Dunkirk installed when we built our new building. Last year in the middle of January, the heat exchanger started leaking in the back. I called the installer and he said he would do what ever it would take to get it repaired or replaced. Dunkirk was called with this reply, "have the installer pull it out, send it to the distributor and they will send it to Dunkirk for review." They, in their sole judgement will check to see if the pH was correct in the fluid and make a determination if it was a manufacturers defect. If it was, they would replace the unit, send it to the distributor, then to the installer who would put it back in. If it was not defective it was $1700 for the exchanger. Guess what happened. None of the above because going three weeks with out heat would have frozen my bottom. I replaced the boiler with another brand that actually has customer service. Dunkirk is a brand I would avoid at all cost. So much for a ten year warranty. Zero is more like it.

"Don't trust Sears"
I bought a Dunkirk oil boiler through Sears 7 years ago. The unit worked fine until a few days ago when smoke started coming out. I called a technician because the Sears extended warranty had already expired (which I understand). The technician said that the heater exchanger is not working so we actually need to replace it. I called Sears and they don't seem to understand that when they purchased the unit, Dunkirk automatically provides them a 12 years warranty on the unit that we don't see because it's through wholesaler contract. Now, Sears don't want to help us because our extended warranty expired. They are so wrong, and it's Sears responsibility to replace the unit for us because we bought it from them not Dunkirk and the unit still has 12 years warranty. Sears is messing with the wrong people here and pretty soon they will find out if they don't help us. I will make it public, through internet and tv. I already contacted my lawyer, just to be ready so hopefully they move fast. The winter is around the corner...so just wait and see! By the way, I will never buy in Sears again.

"Lennox and Dunkirk both bad companies!!!"
6-7 years of agony with a Lennox complete heat and then this Dunkirk Quantum 90/150 for 6 more miserable years. Sitting here with no heat and hot water and outside temperature below zero. Have gone thru 4 igniters, on 2nd heat exchanger, 2nd circulation pump. My furnace company tells me to go out and buy some electric heaters until they can get a new igniter from lennox. Lot of love there. Its been over a week and they won't send anyone else out until they get a new part which they have no idea when its coming in. I'm almost ready to talk to my lawyers. Don't buy this boiler!

"Money Pit Boiler"
We installed this Q90-200 unit in our 4 unit building. We were suppose to save money on gas but to date we've spent more money on repairs than we did on the unit! If you do purchase this unit see if you can get a bulk deal on igniters because you'll need them. We replace at least once a year and as many as three times. Computer board, pressure switch, blower motor just recently 10/28/11 all replaced with the later at a cost of $968. Even after the new blower motor this piece of junk still locks out. The poor installer is sick of my complaining and his frustration intensifies with Dunkirk because they will not stand behind their product. He tells me not to feel bad because everyone else that he installed this unit for is having the same problem. That made me feel so much better! It actually appears to be a cash cow for him! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company!! Anybody interested in a class action law suit?

"Has Never worked, even after they "fixed" it"
Three ignitors in the first year. I threatened them with a lawsuit, had the Carrier sales and technician representatives out, they rebuilt this boiler replacing any/all parts they deemed faulty. Now it burned out another ignitor! After reading all these reviews, it simply CANNOT be the fault of this single part. And yes, I know we have the "newly modified" ignitors. Please spare yourselves the agony. Get something else.

"VERY UNSATISFIED"
I was very happy to see that other people are also getting screwed by the Dunkirk Company!!! This will be our 3rd boiler in 6 years since we got the first one. They will not stand behind their product & are always first to blame the installer -- it could never be their product which is faulty (heaven forbid)!!! I always have the same installer (our plumber who has been in business for 25 years) do the work plus Dunkirk won't even come to the house to view the damage -- they always pass the buck to someone else. I would never recommend this Dunkirk 3es1.35c boiler to anyone!!!

Review:
"DO NOT BUY DUNKIRK"
This unit is not energy or cost efficient. It short cycles constantly because of wind affecting the concentric vent in the Rocky Mountains. The unit has gone through 3 ignitors, two induced draft blowers, which are noisy and vibrate like they are not rotationally balanced, and an air pressure switch. The customer service is awful at Dunkirk and they spend more time defending the product and blaming you for misusing it than trying to solve the problem...and they do not listen to you but rather tell or lecture you on your misdeeds. I was told the air pressure switch has a paper element inside and is subject to condensate or water damaging it and I must have installed the concentric vent improperly. This is pure bs..I disassembled the failed air pressure switch and the diaphragm is made of SILICON RUBBER. I tried to get replacement parts and Dunkirk referred me to their list of dealers and distributors and not a one of the companies I called had ANY parts and they all said they discontinued a relationship with Dunkirk. The rep in Denver gave me the same party line story about the air pressure switch having a paper diaphragm etc etc.....he has obviously never seen the inside of one...he also did not have any parts. Dunkirk refused to sell me the parts and I had to go through one of the authorized 'dealers' who would then only sell it to an hvac contractor. Two hvac contractors came to see the unit and spent most of their time bad mouthing Dunkirk and recommended that I scrap the unit and buy a competing brand. Both refused to work on the unit afterwards. I will not buy another Dunkirk.

"Dunkirk is not solid"
Sears boiler certified by Dunkirk is no good. The original home owner installed the boiler in 2003. On January 28, 2008 the boiler blew smoke and soot all over my house, we could not breath. The boiler still has the warranty by Dunkirk. Both parties fail to help fix the problem. Dunkirk wants Sears to fix the problem, Sears does not want to fix the problem. Sears want us to pay them $4,145 to replace the boiler. Sears installed the boiler wrong which caused the boiler to crack. We have been without heat for 13 days, we are located in Huntsville.
