"Q90-100 needs constant repair"
We are on our third heat exchanger for our Q90-100. Dunkirk service rep told me they had a series of faulty aluminum castings, but have resolved the problem. Dunkirk eventually replaced the first two heat exchangers, but they made it very difficult. I had to ship the failed units back to them for their inspection, and pay for all the labor. They told me they will not replace this one when it fails. It's time to cut my losses, I'll look to a different brand before spending any more money on this one.

every year we fix it, boards, sensors, igniters. had it three years. any savings for efficiency lost to repairs. now heat exchanger is cracked hoping for warranty and it will not run with pressure lines hooked up but will with them off. limping along like that until we find out about warranty.

"Oh Boy What a mistake"
We installed a 90% efficient boiler in 2005. We have had nothing but trouble since. The furnance has not worked one full year yet without problems. Right off the bat the pressure swithes needed to be reofitted by the manufacturer and placed higher in the boiler case. Replaced three igniters, two pressure switches. The boiler water sensor keeps clogging causing the boiler to shut down. We have had repeated survice calls, the company that installed our boiler strung us along and now refuses to replace this lemon. Furnace unit is incredibly noisy when it works...Never buy a Dunkirk Boiler, Very unhappy!

We installed about 40 Dunkirk Aluminum hex boilers with about 30 hex failures. You get a new heater exchanger, have to send the failed on back on your nickel, a day of labor to install new heat exchanger with no labor reimbursement. What a nightmare and expensive! Buy stainless steel. Oh by the way, aluminum oxide plugs up air vents, flow meters, piping, pumps. Amazing they have been in business for 75 years and make a horrible excuse for a boiler.

"You get what you pay for"
Our Dunkirk 3ew is less than 10 years old and developed a leak between the tankless flange and the casting. Our oil burner man (who is not the person who installed the boiler) never liked the boiler and said that it was risky to try to repair the unit and we might as well get a new boiler.

"Dunkirk Quantum 90 Boiler"
Brand new built home. Had 3 Dunkirk Quantum 90 Boilers fail in 3 years. The first unit failed when it was discovered that my boiler pressure kept dropping to 0 psi causing the unit to shut off. It was later discovered that Glycol was being removed through the heat exchanger and out through the evaporator pump. The break down of the heat exchanger caused the piping in the attic to get clogged up. I received a second brand new unit and less than 1 year, the same problems occurred. The manufacturer shipped a new q90 boiler built in 2009, had it installed in May 2009 and this too, failed a day after Christmas with Glycol leaking all over the basement. Did not have heat or hot water for several days. It turns out that the boiler heating block developed a hair line crack causing the unit to fail and the Glycol to leak out. ECR International along with their insurance company are holding things up.

Tech says it's a good boiler. I think that is bs. I wish I have gotten a forced air because it failed to start again. I hope pipes did not freeze . This is the third time.

"This is important"
Replaced an old and reliable boiler for a small apartment building with a Dunkirk 90 200,000 btu boiler. I have had to replace 2 circuit boards within approximately 1 year of each other, the draft inducer and the ignitor twice. Something is terribly wrong with this picture. I am interested in other owners problems.

"Horrible"
Problems from day one, blower noisy, vacuum lines left open from factory, condensate line clogged from metal shavings, metal shavings on burner caused bad ignition by shorting spark from ignitor. Bad fitting on return which leaked. Tappings plugged from factory are starting to leak, main electronic board going bad keeps shutting off with 05 error code. And this is all within 4 months. Haven't seen any savings. The 95% is rated for radiant heat and temps of 120. When you have baseboard heat, you need 190 then the ratings drop into the 80'S. Any savings you do get will most likely be lost in repair bills. Customer service from sales rep was bad, supply house didn't have parts. Stay with a basic boiler.
