"Lots of Problems Burnham Alpine"
I bought a new house with a Burnham Alpine boiler in March 2011. This year the boiler stopped working in the winter and its control board needed to be replaced at a cost of $1100. It was not covered under warranty because I was not the initial purchaser. After the control board was replaced it started leaking water out of the cold air intake pipe. I am now told that it was installed correctly when installed but Burnham has come out with a revised plan for the intake and exhaust pipes to remedy this problem and I must pay the cost of fixing the piping. My other house had a Buderus boiler and I had 0 issues over the last 6 years.

" Faulty boilers"
We built our house in 1991 and we now have to install our 3rd boiler! Our first boiler cracked in 2001 They gave us a credit of $800.00 My husband and father, who is a union pipefitter, installed the furnace. Now the second boiler is leaking, and we will have to replace this one. The most shameful part of this is that Burnham is still selling these boilers without redesigning them to remedy the problem! After reading the other reviews it seems to be the same issue, why can`t they figure this out? It seems they just don`t care.

"Leak in Cast Iron Block"
Purchased a Burnham v-74 in 1997 it now has a leak in the block. Burnham will send me a new block for $1,213.00 or a $675.00 rebate if I buy a new v-8. I will never recommend a Burnham so shop for another brand.

"v8series"
In November 2005 we replaced 1 boiler in our 2 family home. In 2006 we replaced the other. Now in 2011 the first had a hole between the 3/4 block, then in 2012 the other one was found to have a hole in exactly the same place, in 2011 they replaced the block at a cost of 100.00 and then we had to pay 1200.00 for labor. Now in 2012 they want 500.00, (seems to be there standard price) and it's going to cost another 1200.00 for labor. I will never purchase from this company again, I also plan to notify the Attorney General of Massachusetts and the Better Business Bureau. I'm not sure I even want to replace this one, as I bet in 4/5 years the first one will let go again. They are a terrible company and will not honor there warranty claim its caused by corrosion.

"Burnham kV84 Cracked cast iron blocks"
Petro Oil Co. Installed a Burnham kv84 Boiler on 07/14/2004. On Thursday Nov. 22, 2012 there was no heat or Hot water in the house. Immediately called Petro, Technician discovered cracks in 3 of 4 blocks of the Cast Iron Assy. There was a lot of water inside the Boiler. The technician told me the Boiler needs to be replaced. This Boiler last only 8 years. The original Boiler that I had was over 35 years old and it was working. The reason that was replaced was because Petro Co. told me that The Burnham kv84 was more efficient. big lie

"Stay away from Burnham boilers"
Do not buy Burnham boilers, they are knowingly selling defective boilers. Customer service refused to warranty a crack in my 12 year old boiler because they had the original owner of the boiler listed as the contractor who built the house. Even if they had warrantied the repair you are still out $1500 for labor. I encourage everyone with problems to join the class action suits online and hold this company accountable...they are the definition of unscrupulous.

"Noisey, Noisey, Noisey"
For 4 years now I have had to listen to the Burnham, Revolution, installed new, scream a loud whistling sound (I estimate at over 50db) eminating from the draft blower and exhaust system. After several efforts to remedy this noise via interactions w/Burnham management (The CEO for one), the problem remains. I truly believe a retrofit of the draft fan would solve the problem. However, noone at Burnham wants to deal with this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

"Same Problem Leaking Cracked Casing"
I am amazed how many people have had the same problem with Burnham Burners. Well, we bought a v8 Series in January 2001. Sure enough this year we find the casing has cracked, water leaking inside and the casing has rusted out. Burnham is prepared to replace the casing for payment of $900, the installer wants $2100 to install, and I am not sure if it is worth $3000 to fix it after reading all the posts. So if anyone has a better solution let me know. Thanks.

Review:
"Two for two..."
Both boilers in this two family house were replaced in 2007 with Burnham v8 boilers, supplying steam heat and hot water to the Burnham storage tank. The first floor boiler cracked in the end of March 2012, the second floor boiler cracked yesterday. Both were maintained by the oil company, which was of very little use for the first boiler's warranty, and had automatic water feeders. Neither unit consumed excess water, both just quit. I would definitely go with something else if you are in the market for a new boiler.

"Cracked Block after 11 years"
This v85s cast iron boiler was discovered to have a crack block during it's regular maintenance. Of course it is 1 year over its 10 year warranty. So Burnham said I'm out of luck. Now I need to buy another boiler for around $7000 or more. On top of the many of thousands of dollars I spent in 3/2001 (now 4/2012). This a great inconvenience and a financial hardship. I can't believe a company doesn't stand by a defective product. I was told by several repairmen there were problems with v7 and v8 boilers with cracked blocks. Buyer beware!!
