"Cracked Block after 11 years"
This v85s cast iron boiler was discovered to have a crack block during it's regular maintenance. Of course it is 1 year over its 10 year warranty. So Burnham said I'm out of luck. Now I need to buy another boiler for around $7000 or more. On top of the many of thousands of dollars I spent in 3/2001 (now 4/2012). This a great inconvenience and a financial hardship. I can't believe a company doesn't stand by a defective product. I was told by several repairmen there were problems with v7 and v8 boilers with cracked blocks. Buyer beware!!

"Burnham Worked For 31 Years!!"
I have to say goodbye to an old friend this week. My Burnham boiler finally sprang a leak and gave out after 31 years. Yes - I have had to replace the pump twice and the flame sensor a few times. But seriously folks 31 years of service on a unit that's guaranteed for 20 years. That's amazing!!!

"Very Disappointed"
My wife and I purchased our first home at the end of December last year. Included with the house was an immaculate and well serviced Burnham v73 boiler. In the beginning of February the unit began leaking water from a seam in the block. Now, at the end of February, the leak has progressed. I am struggling to keep my basement dry and my home from freezing until I come up with the money for a replacement boiler. Other than that, this boiler works great! Thanks Burnham!

"Very disappointed: the boiler is a lemon"
I've owned the boiler a little over a year. For the first several months it kept shutting itself down with error messages until the heating contractor installed a new control panel. Then it ran until it was just out of warranty and now they can't get it to go at all. The manufacturer claimed it was the gas valve, but that didn't fix it. Even though it is practically new, I'm considering buying another boiler from a different company. This Burnham is a lemon.

"Wall Street Bean Counters Ruined the Brand Quality"
Replace unit twice in 12 years (every 6yr). Burnham had a name of quality now the bean counters(wall street guys) have cheaper the materials in the boils, aka: lack of nickel in the castings. The older models would last for 30+ years. No one should have to replace a boiler every 6 years! Burnham Customer (does not)Care does nothing for you! Going for anything besides a Burnham!!!!

"Leaks and burnham won't help"
Had a Burnham put in 12 yrs ago and noticed a bit of rust around the side panel starting a few years back. Blamed it on poor paint job. Two months ago began w/ small leak which is now pretty bad. Called Burnham and they won't help. Did a little research and this is a well documented problem.

"Job Security"
As a service tech in the Hartford,CT area with 30 years experience, I can give you my opinion of cast iron burnham boilers. The problem with leaking sections is mostly with the v7 series and some with the v8 series. If you have an older burnham v1 series (1980's) it will probably last forever as this was before the problem with bad castings (early 1990's to present). It is unfortunate that some homeowners have had to replace the boiler block one, two and yes, three times. If you have a leaking burnham v7 or v8 boiler, I would not bother to try to deal with Burnham, I would install either a Peerless or Buderus cast iron boiler. The probability of either of these boilers leaking is next to zero, and if there were an issue the manufacturer would stand behind the product. When Burnham bought American Standard many years ago, their product was much more durable than what they put out in the early nineties. It is unfortunate for Burham and even more so for the unlucky consumers stuck with an inferior product with a warrantee that's useless and unfair. I would like to see what comes of Burnham's newest line such as the mpo in ten years or so, hopefully not a repetition of the v7 or V8's casting problems.

"DO NOT BUY BURHAM BOILERS"
Boiler must have leaked from the block for years. Finally rotted through the threaded rod that held block sections together leaked every where. Burnham will not even stand behind a portion of their warranty which is supposed to be 25 years. Bad company bad product.

"Freedom Gas Boiler"
Installed August 2010. Used for heating and hot water. Problems began after 1 year with error codes. Installer/maintenance company does not have a clue. Factory non-responsive. Parts unavailable. Down for over a week in winter. Have no confidence in product or support. Sum it up: POS.
