"Homeowner"
Ours is a gb 124 45 in our 3000 sf home installed 5 years ago. Any issues were installer related. One issue that may be causing many complaints I'm reading is that our air intake had a metal screen in it that was to prevent debris intake. a low outdoor temps, the screen would clog with ice as the result of condensation. Thus, the system would shut down and only restart once the frozen condensate melted. The fix was to remove the screen. Simple fix that might help some.

"Great boiler"
I had the Buderus furnace g-115us installed with the Logamatic control and their s-120us indirect domestic hot water heater installed over 5 years ago. It has a Riello series 40 oil gun. It has been trouble free and the only maintenance has been to change the oil nozzle and filter annually. I also flush out the indirect water heater every couple of years. This is the quietest furnace I have ever had, and I have has many in my time. We are never out of hot water, 4 adult live in the house. The automatic climate control works fine keeping the house at an steady temperature. Our oil use had gone down too. My only regret is I am selling the house and I can't take it with me. So in my next house, I'll opt for another Buderus.

Hear many complaints. I've installed many boilers. If any of the Buderus are installed correctly they are one of the best on the market. gb 142 must be cleaned every 2 to 3 years usng minerial oil. Remove top and bottom plates. Oil boilers clean every year. All boilers must be set up with testers.

"GB142"
Installed a gb142 in my 8,000sf apartment building and the performance has been outstanding for the past three winters. There was a heat exchanger leak which was promptly exchanged under warranty. The only complaint I have is that the ignitor needed replacement after three years and cost almost $200 just for the part alone. Similar gas ignitors usually cost around $50. I agree with a previous reviewer that proper installation is the key and the trick is finding an experienced installer. There are a hundred and one ways to do it incorrectly.

"Maybe it's your plumber"
I work in the hvac industry. Having read the complaints here, I am guessing that 95+% of these problems are due to installer error. These boilers are made on an assembly line. Their quality is uniform; it does not vary to this extreme. You know what does? The talent of installers. Hire a cheap plumber, live with that problem for years. The folks at Buderus don't want to come right out and say it: Your plumber's an idiot. We've installed well over 200 Buderus boilers. Not a single issue. Not one. Zero. The same can't be said about other brands, which have increasingly given us problems with cracked heat exchangers with. We're not in business to deal with hassles. So we only install Buderus now.

"Proven boiler"
I just hit 28,000 hours on the hour meter on my boiler and have done nothing but change the nozzle every year and give it a good cleaning. I burned over 22,400 gallons of heating oil in this boiler and have spent less than $100 in maintenance parts in 15 years. I installed this boiler in a 5000 sf house in Alaska with radiant heat. For the record, I'm not a plumber not do I work on boilers for a living. Over time components of the computer have ceased to function but I have been able to keep it operating and the house warm with minimal effort. It's -40f right now and the house is very comfortable. Next summer I'd like to get rid of the computer as I currently run the boiler on manual instead of auto. Would I buy another Buderus? You bet I would. Very pleased with this equipment.

"Great boiler and German technology"
Great Boiler! I've been reading to many negative reviews also. In six years my boiler has performed almost flawlessly. My install technician knew what he was doing! 2 Tune-ups to check over, clean heat exchanger, and filter. (very little dirt)I am impressed how the boiler has "imprinted" my house(2100') heating load with the use of the bc indoor temperature controller to measure indoor temperature - not outdoor! And sets comfort accordingly. I have a tight envelope and lot of insulation/good windows. With whole house above floor radiant baseboard ,"SpeedHeat",. With the bc control and boiler firing we are performing in the mid 90's comb. eff.!

"Working great and still going x 4 years"
I am not a plumber but hired a plumber to plumb my gb 142 and Buderus 80 gallon indirect storage tank. This little powerhouse provides DHW for my potables, and kicks ass for my radiant hydronic floors x 3000 square feet. Only after 4 years am I having to replace the $38 plastic condensate trap. I have never had to service anything prior. Its extremely reliable and has been idiot proof for the newbie that I am. The manuals are well written, and after reading them, I directed the plumber on the plumbing aspects since radiant heating systems are uncommon in Texas. Fired it up first time and no problems. I love it! Its an all in one wall hung system tidy and quiet, and packs a mean punch at a low monthly gas bill compared to the A.O. Smith it replaced.

"Great boiler"
The GB142 boiler has been very reliable and cost me nothing but a little time each year for simple inspection and cleaning. The modulating heat has not only been very comfortable temperature wise, but has quieted my fin tube baseboard radiation due to it's steady output temperature. No more extremes in temperature causing expansion and contraction noises. I know I won't get 40 years out of it like my last cast iron boiler, but if I get 20 to 25 years, I'll be quite happy. Quick payback with the fuel savings.

"Improper installs"
I am a licensed plumbing and heating contractor in Northern New Jersey and I have also been reading some of these reviews. I have been installing Buderus Boilers for a while as well and they are by far the best product on the market. Most of the problem people on this site have been reporting are installation/maintenance problems. I would also be willing to say 95% of these problems are from poor installers. When you look for a company to work on your product from Buderus the person coming to your door should have a id card on him saying he is certified not his company saying they are certified. I bet I could fix most of your problems for well under what you guys are saying. Maybe people on this site should be writing the review on the installer and not the product. If you want it fixed I am sure the guy from New York or myself will be willing to come out. I know Buderus will send people from Germany if you have real problem.
