"Natural/Propane gas wall hung boiler"
I recently read all the reviews on this particular boiler. Every issue was installer related, and no customer should have paid any money for a warranty issue, if you did it was because installer screwed up and was hiding his incompetence. I have been installing Buderus products for 10 years and have only come across two manufacturer defect. The manifolds, which were redesigned and supplied at no charge, and the condensate tank that also was designed and supplied at no charge. The control issues are also installer set up error, the low fire boiler issue is either low psi or air in system, another installer issue. Any heat exchanger issues are due to installer not installing proper antifreeze for aluminum block boilers or they never tested your water quality to determine its mineral or acidity. All unqualified installer issues.

"Great boiler"
I had the Buderus furnace g-115us installed with the Logamatic control and their s-120us indirect domestic hot water heater installed over 5 years ago. It has a Riello series 40 oil gun. It has been trouble free and the only maintenance has been to change the oil nozzle and filter annually. I also flush out the indirect water heater every couple of years. This is the quietest furnace I have ever had, and I have has many in my time. We are never out of hot water, 4 adult live in the house. The automatic climate control works fine keeping the house at an steady temperature. Our oil use had gone down too. My only regret is I am selling the house and I can't take it with me. So in my next house, I'll opt for another Buderus.

"Read this general info please"
I've read several reviews, I work for a boiler distributor, and have two comments. 1) Many owners are unsatisfied more with the installer and costs than the actual boiler (and spending a lot doesn't guarentee a quality job); so choose carefully whom you hire 2) Don't dis the boiler manufacturer for pump and accessory type failures or equip problems due mostly to improper installation and/or service. Any boiler badly installed will exhibit problems and perform less reliably.

"boilerguy"
Hear many complaints. I've installed many boilers. If any of the Buderus are installed correctly they are one of the best on the market. gb 142 must be cleaned every 2 to 3 years usng minerial oil. Remove top and bottom plates. Oil boilers clean every year. All boilers must be set up with testers.

"Very Poor Service from Buderus and Distributor"
This boiler is four years old and the heat exchanger failed (so much for your experience Mr. J. Johnson in ct). This unit is used for radiant heat and domestic hot water. I have now gone over two weeks without hot water and Buderus is indicating it will be at least another 4 days. Thank goodness this did not happen during the winter or I would more than likely have thousands of dollars in damage to my house from frozen radiant heat lines. Stay away from Buderus and R. E. Michel Company.

"GB142"
Installed a gb142 in my 8,000sf apartment building and the performance has been outstanding for the past three winters. There was a heat exchanger leak which was promptly exchanged under warranty. The only complaint I have is that the ignitor needed replacement after three years and cost almost $200 just for the part alone. Similar gas ignitors usually cost around $50. I agree with a previous reviewer that proper installation is the key and the trick is finding an experienced installer. There are a hundred and one ways to do it incorrectly.

"Don't buy"
This boiler is the worst item I have ever bought. Nothing but trouble from day one. They are over-rated junk. Stay clear. When it was taken out I smashed every bit of it. Glad to see the back of it.

"Maybe it's your plumber"
I work in the hvac industry. Having read the complaints here, I am guessing that 95+% of these problems are due to installer error. These boilers are made on an assembly line. Their quality is uniform; it does not vary to this extreme. You know what does? The talent of installers. Hire a cheap plumber, live with that problem for years. The folks at Buderus don't want to come right out and say it: Your plumber's an idiot. We've installed well over 200 Buderus boilers. Not a single issue. Not one. Zero. The same can't be said about other brands, which have increasingly given us problems with cracked heat exchangers with. We're not in business to deal with hassles. So we only install Buderus now.

"Cheaper to buy new boiler every 4 years than maintain it"
I have two boilers in my house and one is a buderus. It is 2 years old and I have Caon Plumbing do preventative maintenance on systems 2x year-- last year it cost $2500 as the buderus boiler failed at -25c and I had to have Caon come out 2 months after spending $1400 to replace a defective pump and they needed to replace a 2 year old flame rod. What junk. How do these guys stay in business?
