"4 Good Trane Systems"
I've had owned 2 houses over the past 20 years that have had Trane systems. The first had 2 Trane heat pumps that were still going after 17 years. The only thing I had to do in the 13 years I was in that house was replace the starter caps a few times. I finally replaced the systems with American Standard systems just because they were starting to struggle to keep the house cool. The second house with Trane systems has been good too. It has 2 Trane ac and gas furnace systems (xe1200) that are 14 years old, and I'm now replacing one system due to freon leaks in the evaporator and condenser coils. This one system has already had the evaporator coil replace once though, in 2003. The other system is still going strong.

"Hop on this Trane"
We've owned our Trane for 14 years. Its been a great system. Recently it started having some issues after a hailstorm blew through. The casing took a beating, the system still works but we had to have the maintenance guy come out to check the system. He found a some damage to the coil from the storm. He said it looked like someone took a hammer to the case. He was nice and was able to repair the damage, althoug the case looks like crap after the hail.

"Trane Offers Reliability and Efficiency"
This is the air conditioner that was on our home when we moved in about a year ago. It has been dependable for the most part. The best part about this air conditioner is the efficiency. As soon as we moved in, we noticed our utility bills were lower than where we had previously lived, and because the new house is a little bigger we expected the opposite. After doing some research, I'm convinced the TRANE model air conditioner has a lot to do with it. Even though it's rated standard efficiency, this thing uses much less energy than those older models. It has a built in air filtration system as well, which is nice in the summer. We did have it break down one time during the dead heat of summer, but a maintenance man was able to take care of the problem the next day without ordering in any special parts.

"Trane Units(3) are OK"
We had problems approximately 1 year after they were installed. One of the air conditioners leaked in our garage and almost caused our garage ceiling to collapse. Other than that, the last 4 years have been fine.

"So far so good with central air from TRANE"
At the beginning of last summer/last spring, we had central air from Trane installed, after years of window units in every room, and for the first time our house can be both quite and cool at the same time. It's great to not have to think about cooling anymore, as we just set the thermostat to 68 degrees and forget about it. Granted we haven't had it that long, but it's been through 1 winter and it fired right up on the first hot day we had (though it was only 80 or so). We got the standard efficiency model, so while we're not saving as much on power bills as we could, it was what we could afford at the time, but the monthly expenses are actually better than we thought they would be. Over all, the thing does it's job excellently and was reasonably priced, so anyone looking for central air, Trane's the way to go!

"Upgrading an ineffencient Air Conditioner"
I have had my Trane air conditioner for about a year. I purchased it in early April of 2010 after my central air unit that was about 10 years old finally died. I live in a two story home that is approximately 2,500 square feet. The unit does a good job of keeping the living area downstairs nice and cool. It is consistent at keeping the temperature at the preselected degree. The one big sticking point with this system is that it doesn't seem to cool the upstairs as evenly. Although it does cool down the bedrooms there is definitely a distinct difference in the quality of the cooled air. As a result I have to use the ceiling fans in the bedroom and on particularly humid days I even have broken out an additional fan for added comfort. In hindsight a larger air conditioning unit would probably be more efficient for my two story home, however financially this was not an option. I have not had to do any repairs to the system since it really only had one season of use. I would definitely give this brand a try again since it has a reputation for being a quality unit and is energy efficient, however I think I'd do more research to find the proper unit to meet the needs of my home.

"XL GOOD, BUT DON'T GET TOO BIG"
Got a XL 14 in 2009, which works well and is quiet. But don't get the unit too big. Replaced a 4 ton with a 5 ton unit for first floor of our two story home in Houston. It gets hot here, but this unit is too big. The house is too humid, and the high air velocity intrusive. If you have an up and downstairs unit, go with the 4 ton for the first floor. 5 tons are fine for a one story home as you have the additional heat from the attic.

"heat pump"
The heating/ air conditioning system is very good. It is quiet ,so you can leave it on while you are sleeping and not be disturbed when it turns on & off. It provides a comfortable environment all the time. My only complaint is that the company that installed the unit, and service it, does not seem to be trained by TRANE -- i think that it is analogous to having excellent food but a lousy cook.

"Trane XL 1200"
Purchased a Trane xl 1200 in 2001. Installer returned a month later to install an updated part that I was not aware needed to be replaced. The part was under warranty, no cost to me. Trane handeled it! Now its August 2010. Unit is not cooling. its 105 in Dallas! Called a different service company. Unfornately, the person did not know what he was doing.had to have them come back three times to solve the problem. each time it cost me more money. finally, a diferent tech came out and it ws the drain pan was the problem, not for what I had paid for the other two visits from the tech person.

"Roll of the dice"
I bought a new rooftop package unit to replace an 8 year old Rheem that was installed by the worst hvac company around, Barnett's Heating and Air of Modesto. I went with Trane and Tenny Norquist just because of my poor Barnett experience. What a difference! I've had my new Trane 3 years now and all I've ever had to do was maintain it 2x a year using Norquist's maintenance agreement. We have Trane's at work and they have been working for quite some time. a little more expensive, but at least I didn't have to worry about the quality of work, or hide my valuables whenever the service technician came to visit, like with Barnetts.
