"Trane is the same"
I worked at Trane for awhile and can tell you they were the best at one time. Then they went public and started making changes to reduce cost of manufacturing but go up in price. But today's Trane product is no better that any other product. They use Copeland scroll compressor's (they say it's an Alliance) but 51% of that company is owned by Copeland and is the same compressor as a Copeland. They were bought by Ingersol Rand in 2008 and they have even cheapened it more because they got screwed when they bought it. My suggestion is to buy any brand and have it installed by someone that has a proven track record in installing and service.

"You might have Chinese Drywall!!"
My daughter had a home built just a few years ago. After the lower and upper AC coils both leaked 3 times over, they found out they had Chinese Drywall. The fumes from the drywall destroys copper, etc, thus the leaks. So before you blame the AC manufacturer, check online for the signs that you might have Chinese Drywall. I feel so sorry for you if you do, but better to find out and get your family out of that environment as soon as possible.

"OWNER"
I have been a Trane dealer for 15 years. The reason I like Trane equip. is because of the quality of material they use on the equipment compared to other manufactures. Trane and American Standard (my opinion) are the best equipment available. I am very meticulous when it comes to quality and doing things right. I do know that the majority of consumers know very little about HVAC and can be taken advantage of easily. I also know that HVAC installs MUST be done correctly or you will have problems. There are so many variables when dealing with HVAC, (proper refrigerant charge and airflow calculation) are the most important . If you cut corners it will bite you later. The hundreds of systems I have installed over the years I have only replaced (1) warranty compressor. Most of the reviews I have read seem like install problems to me. Trane is no different than Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc. They are all great until they break. Don't forget about maintenance, how many of you do nothing for preventive maintenance and are surprissed when something fails. OH...hurry, change the filter! A/C units are like cars or anything mechanical, you have to take care of them to get maximum performance. How many of you make sure condenser and evaporator coils remain clean? Condenstae drain lines are maintained? All moving parts are lubricated....etc. Seriously, don't blame Trane, they do make the best equipment. Let me say something, being in business for 30 years. It is extremely difficult finding people that really care about doing the right thing and treating people (the consumer) with respect. Being honest and taking pride in your work seems to be a thing of the past for some people. That is exactly why I have no full time employees and I do all my work myself. I have a wonderful relationship with all my customers. I wish I could assist all the unsatisfied people here, I know I could change your mind about Trane products. If I can be of any help please let me know.....

"Dealer or Trane?????"
We purchased our home 1 year ago. Everything in the home was newly replaced, including the Trane ac unit (Installed Aug 7, 2008, and serviced every 3 to 6 months). After 1 year of living in the home, the unit stopped blowing cold air. I was told the condensor needed to be replaced. After that was replaced, we found out the compressor was completely shot. The previous owners were only offered a warranty from the installer (a certified Trane company). I have the certificates, receipts, etc. The company will not cover the labor, and they are looking to Trane to replace the compressor. If these people are recommended by Trane, why doesn't Trane cover the labor, too? From what I have read, several compressors go out because of improper installation. After calling around, I found out I can purchase an extended warranty from Trane that will cover everything for 500.00 (something the originally installer left out). For now, I have to pay 1500.00 for labor to install the new compressor. (yes, I have called around and this is the best price for labor! I don't even think doctors make that much per hour in labor!) but if it fails again, I will still have to pay the labor costs unless I purchase the extended warranty. I am still young and will probably purchase many ac units in my lifetime... Trane will not be one of them!

"Trane"
I am building a home and have just been doing a little pre-exploring of HVAC info not to mention Trane as our primary pick. A lot of the postings on here I feel based from the reading I am doing are more because of the AC repair folks and not the Trane product line itself. Like the fact that two evap coils would go out at the same time... I have read from experts this is a hallmark of a scam, almost impossible to have happen. Leaks are another scam area... also no good AC repair guy should load freon into a system to detect a leak, they use Nitrogen. (Finding a honest AC repair guy is like finding a good auto guy...very hard; but keep looking, and get several bids) Proper cleaning and annual maintenance is important to... Honest AC guys are out there... somewhere. I found some great websites where HVAC experts will help you with Q & A forums.

"Trane Goodman and ALL A/C units"
How many people that are really happy with thier a/c's are taking time out of thier busy day to write a good review? These reviews are all the people that have had a bad experience and are furious with the company that makes them. They get on here and write a bad review as some type of revenge against the company. I wouldnt take these reviews too seriously. Do your homework but dont base your purchase on these reviews.
