"18 years fixing junk"
I've been in the hvac business since 1994 and was trained at a wonderful tech school and worked with some of the best in the business. I've owned my own company for 8 years now and sold Trane for the first 7 years and work for dealers that installed many different brands. I am a service man turned business owner and I can tell you with confidence that all brands are junk these days I believe by design. It is sooooo!!!! Frustrating when I want to sell the best. There is no best. When you select a hvac company just pick someone honest with referrals from someone you know. A system being installed correctly is very important but the guy that said 98% of problems are due to poor installation is dead wrong I'm sad to say.

"Sorry piece of junk"
I can honestly say this is one of the worst pieces of junk that we've ever, ever owned. Nothing stops a Trane, yeah right. We've been in our home for 8 years and this piece had shut down 10 times or more. Had the compressor changed twice already. Have had freon leaks, breakers failed and you name it. Now, compressor is gone again. They're telling me $1200.00 for a new one or $5,000 for a new unit. Our service records show tech people have been to my home 12 times in 8 years. Beware comsumers, "eave the trane on the tracks"and find something else

"Why is HEAT setting randomly blowing FRIGID air?"
Looks like I'm the only one who has a Trane Heating & Cooling system that decides to blows out crisp cold air, regardless of whether or not it's seat to heat! I tend to not like surprises with a heating cooling system; Whenever I set it to heat, sometimes it blows heat, then sometimes it will blow cold or at outside temperature! Tonight it's in the 30's! This means; Either I have to just turn it off, or stay up all night to make sure it consistently blows out heat before I wake up frozen! If it were summertime, I'd leave a more positive response, but I do not like cold air in the late fall and winter, especially when it's clearly set to heat! Of course, right now I'm somewhat unsatisfied. If only the summer air conditioning blew out air just as cold as the heat setting sometimes does in the winter! Yes, we rent the townhouse, but we purchased the actual Trane Air Conditioner for this unit!

"Nate certified technician"
Just want everyone to know, that 98% of all unit failures are due to systems not being installed properly, not just with trane, its with carrier, heil, goodman, etc. Been in the air business, for 28 years, and I have installed all brands and I haven't had a problem with trane or carrier, no major break downs at all, very , very few, it's all in how it's installed, did they purge the lines with nitrogen when they soldered, did they cover the txv when they soldered so not to damage the txv, if they didn't it will cause the txv to stay permanently closed and blow the compressor out, don't always point the finger at the machines.

"Happy With the Trane Ultra Efficient A/C"
I am pleased with this central air conditioning unit. The ultra efficiency XL20i is billed as a top-of-the-line unit and so far it lives up to expectations. We have had this cooling system for 2 summers. It is very quiet compared to our old unitâ€"so quiet in fact that we never hear the motor engage or know by listening alone whether it's on. The house, however, stays evenly cool. The best part is that indoor humidity is reduced with this model which for where we live (NJ) is a major plus. Efficiency is also important. Although this model cost more than our previous (adjusting, we'll say, for inflation) our utility bills are noticeably lower, which over the course of the five-six months (roughly) that the AC is used makes a significant difference. The model is fairly sleek and durable, less an eyesore than the big clunkers out there. So far we have not had any problems and I would definitely recommend it to a friend, however bear in mind this is a new system and problems at this stage would be unlikely.

"3 Ton High Efficiency Heat Pump/HVAC"
I have owned this Air conditioner for eight years. I like the user freindly thermostat controls. The unit runs quietly and cools very well. I live in eastern North Carolina. In North Carolina we have very hot and humid weather in the late spring until early fall and this Trane has performed flawlessly. I am very satisfied with the unit and would recommend it to a friend. I can say there is nothing that I dislike about this hvac unit. I have never had to do any repairs or replace any parts. I keep the filters changed as manufacture suggests. I would definitly purchase this brand again because it has operated very well for the last eight years.

"Expensive and Horrible"
We purchased two XL19i units upon completion of our home renovation a few years ago. They are broken more often than they are operational. We have had many sleepless nights with no a/c during warm months (which are most of them in North Carolina) and I would guess we have had over a dozen service calls in 2011 alone. My husband contacted the regional sales manager recently to complain more assertively about the issue at which point the sales manager replies "If you are going to speak to me in that tone why don't you come in here yourself and we can talk man to man!" Huh? Is that their way of doing business? My nice landscaper recently cut the freon line to the downstairs unit by mistake and was charged $1600.00 for the repair! Rip off!! I will never buy from Trane again and am now going to be spending my time spreading the word so that no one else pays this much for a couple of lemons and lobbying for a new unit from the company. I should have known when they showed me how to operate it and it was so complicated neither one of us could understand it!!! Stay away!!!!!

"Never buy a Trane"
In the last year have had 5 calls on unit. Just had to replace the coil. Very expensive repair. I don't abuse the unit as it is in a small condo. I will never buy this Trane 2TTB3060A1 again. Nothing but a money pit.

"Very Satisfied"
The York air conditioner that the builder had used gave out during some of the hottest days of that summer. I contacted a local contractor, who sells Trane, and never did any research - I just wanted cool air, again. The only time I had a concern was when the XR12 was only two years old. One day, the unit attempted to start, but all I heard was a hum and it quit. It attempted to start three more times over several minutes, but wouldn't. I had to run errands and I thought about how this "two-year old" unit was already quitting on me. When I returned home, I was prepared to call the contractor and tell them what a piece of junk the XR12 was, but before I did, I walked over to the unit to see if there were any buttons I could push to make it do anything. The first thing I noticed, as I approached the unit, was the stench of something that had died. I don't want to make anyone queasy with further details, but this unit has the capacity to "puree" a black snake - one that hvac presumably wrapped itself around the motor housing to keep warm and had temporarily restricted the fan blades from turning. The XR12 responded appropriately for a stopped fan and didn't start, thus preventing extensive damage to the unit. Suffice to say, Trane earned my respect. I now plan to replace my old York furnace and simultaneously purchase a new, matched A/C unit with greater efficiency than the XR12. I will strongly consider the line of equipment by Trane in this next purchase.

"Surprised at how bad"
We have a trane 4tec3f18a1000A 1 1/2. Over the last 3 years we have had freon leak and core replaced. It only services the basement; 1100 square feet. It runs all the time and seldom cools the basement down. It is expensive to run. I notice that the number is not in the list. Is this system a real lemon? I need to call the repair service again to find out why it runs all the time now.
