"Sorry piece of junk"
I can honestly say this is one of the worst pieces of junk that we've ever, ever owned. Nothing stops a Trane, yeah right. We've been in our home for 8 years and this piece had shut down 10 times or more. Had the compressor changed twice already. Have had freon leaks, breakers failed and you name it. Now, compressor is gone again. They're telling me $1200.00 for a new one or $5,000 for a new unit. Our service records show tech people have been to my home 12 times in 8 years. Beware comsumers, "eave the trane on the tracks"and find something else

"Expensive and Horrible"
We purchased two XL19i units upon completion of our home renovation a few years ago. They are broken more often than they are operational. We have had many sleepless nights with no a/c during warm months (which are most of them in North Carolina) and I would guess we have had over a dozen service calls in 2011 alone. My husband contacted the regional sales manager recently to complain more assertively about the issue at which point the sales manager replies "If you are going to speak to me in that tone why don't you come in here yourself and we can talk man to man!" Huh? Is that their way of doing business? My nice landscaper recently cut the freon line to the downstairs unit by mistake and was charged $1600.00 for the repair! Rip off!! I will never buy from Trane again and am now going to be spending my time spreading the word so that no one else pays this much for a couple of lemons and lobbying for a new unit from the company. I should have known when they showed me how to operate it and it was so complicated neither one of us could understand it!!! Stay away!!!!!

"Never buy a Trane"
In the last year have had 5 calls on unit. Just had to replace the coil. Very expensive repair. I don't abuse the unit as it is in a small condo. I will never buy this Trane 2TTB3060A1 again. Nothing but a money pit.

"Surprised at how bad"
We have a trane 4tec3f18a1000A 1 1/2. Over the last 3 years we have had freon leak and core replaced. It only services the basement; 1100 square feet. It runs all the time and seldom cools the basement down. It is expensive to run. I notice that the number is not in the list. Is this system a real lemon? I need to call the repair service again to find out why it runs all the time now.

"new home owner"
We bought two Trane a/c units from the local dealer when we built our home five years ago in July 2011. The first year, we had to replace the thermostats. The second year we had to have freon added to one unit. The next year we had to have a new fan motor installed in one of the units. We have had to have freon added a total of four times. We left is our old house a Carrier that never needed anything other than a cleaning after 10 years time.

"Never a Train Again"
This unit Trane 2TTB0048A1 was only 8 years old. Was serviced 3 times. It was loud. I think a 4 ton unit compressor should have lasted longer, switching to a Heil. Hope it lasts longer.

"Trane breaks down all the time"
This is what I wrote to Trane: Dear Mr. Michel, Just a few years ago we purchased a top of the line home a/c unit, the Trane XL19i including the air handler and Clean Air Effects. Over the last three and a half years we have had nothing but trouble with our new Trane xli-19. From a broken heater element in the winter, to numerous replacement of the air cleaner, from leaking refrigerant to a replaced condenser. This is the just summary, we’ve endured 3 years of malfunctioning equipment, right from the day we purchased it, all the way through now, with a leaking unit that does not cool that well. As of now, the unit is still not working well and is literally taped up with duct tape by the installer. It is too late for us, we purchased the complete new system, now over 3 years ago, and are stuck with expensive repairs each time it fails. But I want you to know how the systems you are selling are not as good as you advertise. “Nothing can stop a Trane”?, Well ours stops frequently. Also, the “licensed and official” dealers who install them do not know your equipment well, and on numerous occasions have demonstrated that they cannot properly diagnose or repair the Trane XLI-19i. I have printed out the manuals many times and shown the installers on how some of the parts should work. So, as said, all I can do is make you aware of this and post my experiences online as much as possible, so that others do not make the same mistakes we have made. In short, below are only some of the issues we have had: • From day 1, the clean air effect was not installed properly, never worked. Installation company was not aware, did not know how to wire it. • Emails to Trane went unanswered on multiple issues. • Unit was rewired 6 months later. Now properly wired, still not cleaning air. • Heat coil broke, called in for service requesting it to be replaced. Installer came, did not bring coil. Diagnosed: coil broken and had to come back with coil. Came back with wrong coil. Fixed after 10 days in the cold. • Unit malfunctioning: clean air effects error lights. Months of hassle with the installer, all they could do in the end is replace some parts and tape the unit shut with duct tape. Problem not fixed. • Condenser frozen, unit not cooling. Added refrigerant. • Leak detected in condenser, replaced whole condenser at my expense. • Unit still leaking on the outside and inside. During the first 3 years, the company that installed the unit, All Year Cooling and Heating, did a terrible job. They not only installed the unit wrong, they never repaired the unit fully. Their service is of the lowest level. Most recently our unit has been serviced and repaired by CMi a/c & Electrical in Lake Park fl, who has done a better job. Of course they billed us for the repairs and service, as they should, but for a high end unit that is fairly new, one would not have expected these kind of repairs. I have not included the many service bills or receipts in this letter. With the model and serial numbers and the information on the installation and the service company you can do some research on the many issues your products have. Per the many service people and per the various posts in the forums, your a/c units are breaking down more than other brands. With the exception of the initial “repairs”, we have faced several expensive bills for repairs, in both refrigerant and labor. So, in conclusion, the Trane a/c unit has been a very bad and expensive choice.

"Trane equals junk"
Trane has let us down from day one. Our unit is less than five years old and we have had multiple problems. This year alone we have had repairmen out four times because the unit was not cooling or had stopped running. Each time it was big bucks for service and repair and sometimes new freon, even though in every case the problem resulted from some part still under warranty that went bad. Now we are facing a $900 charge to replace the coil because it has a leak in it. And that is in addition to the charge to get someone out here to look at it and put new freon in it until they can get back out to do the coil replacement. The coil has a ten year warranty and already it has a leak. But what good is a warranty when it costs almost a thousand dollars to get it repaired? If they say a part is guaranteed then they should pay to replace it when it goes bad within the warranty period. And all that stuff they tell you about new units being energy efficient and saving you the cost in electricity savings. It doesn't happen. You may save a few bucks but nothing like they claim. We actually did not see any savings.

"Throw mama from the TRANE"
Just spend my grandchildren's back to school money to completely repair a 5 year old $6000 unit. I used to recommend Trane and will never do so again. I contacted Trane and they were unsympathetic and unwilling to do anything to help. I hope they go out business and if someone pursues a lawsuit count me in.

"Do NOT buy a Trane"
After the old a/c unit in my home died, I spent $5000.00 to install a Trane unit. I did not choose this unit, it was chosen by the installer. He claimed this brand was the most reliable. One year later, the wall panel controller broke. Simply fixed with replacement. One year later, the circuit board fries. Trane covered the cost of the board, not the warranty. 18 months later (today) I awake in sweat in 94 degree miami humidity to find the "most reliable" Trane unit is not working yet again. There are certain things that should be counted on to work in your home. Your fridge, your water heater, and your A/C. Trane should be hit with a class action lawsuit.
