"Don't buy Trane"
Junk! Don't buy Trane! We have had one five years and have trouble every summer. We replaced the condenser once and will have to do it again this summer. Junk!

"I love my trane"
It's all about the company doing the installation. Three Rivers Services installed my XR 15 variable speed system over two years ago. Have had no problems at all with the system. Research the service company before making a decision.

"Griffiths Energy Services installed Trane scam"
We paid Griffiths Energy Services, Baltimore almost $6,000,00 to install a new Trane a/c system, 10/2007. 9/ 2011, we noticed our basement wet with black mold on walls. Griffths servicemen claim freon leaks. Problem continues as of 5/12, and we get billed $200+ every time we call Griffiths. Isn't it a scam!!

"two trane units with serious problems"
Complete new system with two tranes(3.5 & 2.5) installed six years ago. We've had serious problems that affected cooling each year as summer came along... two or three of those after the technician came out for annual check-up. Coils, expansion valves, leaks and I'm guessing another coil. Now, r-22 has gone sky-high in price.

"Horrible, Horrible, Horrible"
New 5 ton hvac unit installed 3/26/2012. Outside comp/cond failed in one month. Under full warranty. Tech said that the outside until needed to be pulled and replaced. This was Sat. A.M. Said could not replace until Monday. On Monday could not get a replacement from the distributor. Trane sells their units to local distributors and then washed their hands of any problems. The local distributor said they were waiting for authorization from Trane before they could replace and then they would have to find one, have it shipped and it would take several days. I live in houston!! We can't go days on end with no a/C. Called the Trane plant in Tyler, Texas. Long story short - they could do nothing for me. Told me to call the distributor again but did not have the name of anyone specific that I could call. Distributor blames Trane, Trane blames the distributor (Hunton Group) and I continue to sweat

Review:
"Second failed coil in 6 years"
We had two Trane XL16i units placed in our home. I am very disappointed, as I believed they were a high quality product. The first coil failed within 3 years, and now it has failed again and the second coil has failed after 7 years (with an $2100+ price tag). Our home is 3000 square foot and the ac guy who installed these said they would be more than sufficient to cool our home. Once it gets in the 100's, it won't get much below 80 inside. We have had different ac guys tell us you can't get an ac to cool more than 20 degrees, but I know people with comparable size homes and units who don't have that issue. We are bummed with Trane!

Review:
"Piece of JUNK"
Have had this unit for 7 years and have had to spend over $2,000 on it. This is utterly ridiculous. Trane should be ashamed of themselves selling such shabby units. Our subdivision is only 7 years old and everyone in this subdivision has had to either get a new unit or put extensive money into the one they have, unbelievable!!

"Do Not Buy Trane, you will be sorry!"
Bought top of the line, expected it to actually work - never has. We get lots of communication errors, about 3-4 times per week the unit stops working temporarily due to those ongoing issues that nobody has been able to fix. Authorized dealer gave up and won't return my calls. Tried Trane directly but they do not care. Have also had 3 compressors and several controller boards replaced in the 2 years we've owned it. Meanwhile the 3 American Standard 15 year old units we have are chugging along with no problems. Do Not Buy Trane!!!!

"Leaking Drip Pan"
My mothers trane air conditioner coil pan is overflowing. The air handling unit is designed to be installed in the ceiling and access to the pan underneath the coil requires the removal of the coil just to clean it out. Service repair men are quoting $750 dollars to remove the coil, clean the pan, and then reinstall the coil. You would think Trane would have a fix for this access problem. If anyone has experienced this in the past please let me know. I understand this is a common problem and very costly to repair.

Review:
"18 years fixing junk"
I've been in the hvac business since 1994 and was trained at a wonderful tech school and worked with some of the best in the business. I've owned my own company for 8 years now and sold Trane for the first 7 years and work for dealers that installed many different brands. I am a service man turned business owner and I can tell you with confidence that all brands are junk these days I believe by design. It is sooooo!!!! Frustrating when I want to sell the best. There is no best. When you select a hvac company just pick someone honest with referrals from someone you know. A system being installed correctly is very important but the guy that said 98% of problems are due to poor installation is dead wrong I'm sad to say.
