"3 Ton High Efficiency Heat Pump/HVAC"
I have owned this Air conditioner for eight years. I like the user freindly thermostat controls. The unit runs quietly and cools very well. I live in eastern North Carolina. In North Carolina we have very hot and humid weather in the late spring until early fall and this Trane has performed flawlessly. I am very satisfied with the unit and would recommend it to a friend. I can say there is nothing that I dislike about this hvac unit. I have never had to do any repairs or replace any parts. I keep the filters changed as manufacture suggests. I would definitly purchase this brand again because it has operated very well for the last eight years.

"Very Satisfied"
The York air conditioner that the builder had used gave out during some of the hottest days of that summer. I contacted a local contractor, who sells Trane, and never did any research - I just wanted cool air, again. The only time I had a concern was when the XR12 was only two years old. One day, the unit attempted to start, but all I heard was a hum and it quit. It attempted to start three more times over several minutes, but wouldn't. I had to run errands and I thought about how this "two-year old" unit was already quitting on me. When I returned home, I was prepared to call the contractor and tell them what a piece of junk the XR12 was, but before I did, I walked over to the unit to see if there were any buttons I could push to make it do anything. The first thing I noticed, as I approached the unit, was the stench of something that had died. I don't want to make anyone queasy with further details, but this unit has the capacity to "puree" a black snake - one that hvac presumably wrapped itself around the motor housing to keep warm and had temporarily restricted the fan blades from turning. The XR12 responded appropriately for a stopped fan and didn't start, thus preventing extensive damage to the unit. Suffice to say, Trane earned my respect. I now plan to replace my old York furnace and simultaneously purchase a new, matched A/C unit with greater efficiency than the XR12. I will strongly consider the line of equipment by Trane in this next purchase.

"Trane"
I have serviced and installed commercial and residential hvac equipment for 15 years. I also have Trane equipment in my own home that I have not had any problems with. First, let's be reasonable. There is not a manufacturer out there that does not have a problem once in a while. These machines are man-made. Second, many problems with equipment of all makes and models come from poor installations and mis-applications. Third, many problems arise from poor maintenance practices. Now, here's another point to make. Many people have complained about labor cost, however, Trane offers a 10 year parts and labor warranty but most homeowners do not wish to purchase this even though it's cost is minimal. If your equipment is under 5 years old, it may still be eligible for an extended warranty. As for calling the distributor, they are most likely not going to talk directly with the homeowner but will direct you to contact a contractor. The quality of Trane equipment has been and still is among the best in the industry. The bottom line is that if you have it sized properly, installed properly, and maintained properly you are going to have much better luck with any equipment your buy.

"Better by comparison"
My neighbor and I both built our homes at the same time. We installed a Trane System and they installed Carrier. We compared systems and costs, both systems ran around $17,000 for Furnace, Coil, Electronic air cleaner, a/c Unit and thermostat installed. Both high end systems. My Trane is a XC95m furnace, Clean Effects air cleaner, XL16i a/c and Comfortlink II thermostat. The Carrier System my neighbor got was an Infinity 96, Air Purifier, Infinity a/c and Edge® Programmable Thermostat. After three years I've had zero problems, the system has run perfectly. My neighbor has had the coils replaced on the a/c, his furnace stopped working in the middle of winter the first year with a bad gas valve and his a/c makes a high pitched noise that the installer says is normal. It’s become a bit of a sore point with him. I know that all manufactures have issues with some percentage of products and don’t believe Carrier is junk. But in my experience I got the better system.

"Can't stop this Trane XL20i"
Four years and never a problem. This A/C unit, XL20i, has been through allot in a short time. We've had several massive hail storms. One so bad that I had to get the roofing replaced. The A/C unit, while the case is dented, has never missed a beat. We've had temperatures over 100 for more than a month this year! No issues.

"New System"
We just had a complete system put in. Paid $8,800 for it, and our electric bill dropped from around 400-475 per month during the summer, to around 120 per month. In about 4 years, this unit will have paid for itself. We have the XL19I for almost a year now, and have not had a single problem with it. I love my Trane. Plus, the warranty is great! We live 10 seconds from the beach, and it will last alot longer than out last unit, which was a Carrier. That lasted a while 4 years. Money down the drain. POS.

"Original Unit to House"
We purchased our house 6 years ago and we're very reluctant about purchasing in the first place because the a/c unit was so old. The current homeowners assured us that they had never had problems with their unit, and boy they were right! We've owned the home 6 years now and only have had minimal yearly maintenance repairs. We've estimated the unit is around 26 years old and it still runs like a champ through our deep South heat waves! Thanks Trane!

"This trane runs"
Motto's being what they are, this Trane does keep runing. Despite being hit by numerous baseballs and footballs from my kids activities and a few major hail storms this a/c runs great. While I have a few dents due to the abuse my kids are taking out on the equipment it runs fine. Were dealing with heat indexes over 100 the last few weeks and the house stays nice and coool. The unit runs like its brand new. Well it runs like a Trane.

"Trane Rolls"
New Trane XR15 installed two years ago with no issues. Chose Trane because of high quality, price, referrals from friends and research. Trane is the best out there, period. I must have talked with 6 installers who sold all brands and they all recommended Trane or American Standard. Consensus was that Trane is one of the only manufacturers that assemble the a/c compressors in-house using proprietary technology that no one else has.

"Trane Rocks!"
I have 6 Trane A/C systems installed in my rental properties. While I didn't get top of line, I had XR13 models installed in all units 8 years ago. The prior units, also Trane, were over 24 years old. In all the years I've had Trane A/C's I have never had an issue. As an investment I give Trane an A+ rating.
