"Trane XL16i"
Installed Trane XL16i in July 2005. It heats and cools the house well and I notice a 15-20% reduction in my monthly bills over the prior systems. My only complaint is the dirty sock smell for about 2-3 days every spring when the cooling system begins to work on the return of hot weather. I never had this problem with a Ruud or GE system. The smell is so foul that I do not intend to ever purchase another Trane. I am baffled about why a supposedly quality system has such a problem. If ge and Ruud systems don't smell, why can't Trane design a system that doesn't smell? It is strong enough that it almost makes you want to vomit.

"Not bad..."
The builder put a Trane system in my Texas home. I had to replace the outdoor fan and igniter for the pilot light indoors, but other than that it's run ok. I can't complain about getting over 20 years out of a unit.

I am about to replace my TraneXL80 gas furnace and air conditioner. The unit was purchased in 1987. The compressor failed the 1st year and was replaced without charge. During the course of the last 20 years the air conditoner had to be tweaked a couple of times and the furnace needed to have about $600 worth of work.
