Review:
"Old Republic Home Warranty"
Based on my recent experience with not only Trane but owning rentals I've tried others. Basically they are all the same, it is the luck of the draw to determine how long they will last. My solution is to have all my homes covered by Old Republic Home Warranty. Replaced a recent 3.5 ton unit for $55/initial house call and $200 disposeal fee to haul awya the old unit. 3 years ago Old Republic replaced another unit that one was $45/initial house call and $50 to haul off the old unit. I will always have Old Republic on my homes as long as us products are junk.

Review:
"Major Design Flaw in XL19i"
Last May, my Carrier A/C failed. Turns out I needed to replace the A/C as well as the furnace. I purchased a Trane XL19i A/C unit for outside, and a XV80i furnace for inside. Everything has been working great. However, I recently discovered packrats living in the outdoor unit. To my astonishment, there is a huge opening where the cables/tubes connect the unit to the house. My old Carrier didn't have such an obvious design flaw. I suspect any animal smaller than a cat could take residence inside the A/C unit. The packrats did some damage, but nothing too severe. Keep in mind that damage due to a packrat would probably not be covered under warranty since no components failed. Instead, you'd be charged and advised to get an exterminator to fix the design flaw. I promptly patched the hole with some screen and spoke with my local dealer. I was surprised how unconcerned they were with this issue. They really didn't care, and recommended I find an exterminator. If you buy a Trane, patch the giant hole!
