"Great Equipment"
I am a Tempstar Dealer located in Marco Island. I own one of these units myself, 15 seer 3 years old now. Previous unit was a Tempstar, 11 seer and in place for 15 Years. I can say without any guessing at all that the people with problems aparently had poor installations completed. Regarding the filter problem. These filters are very easy to replace, your installer aparently installed it wrong. Regarding coil leaks and "rusting" complaint. These coils hold up perfectly, unless you have problems with corrosion due to external VOCs. Inother words, better check your drywall or for other contaminents in the home. I have installed hundreds of these systems and have yet to recieve a warranty call for equipment failure. As I stated before, the "installer" of your equipment is 90% of how well your new system will work. Overcharging with Freon will cause compressor noises and failure. Improper installations will cause water leak problmes. You can buy the "best" unit in the world, whatever that may be, and have a three stooges crew install it, and you will have problems. My suggestion, shop your installing contractors and ask for refrences.

"Efficient, No Problems"
My 2-ton Tempstar came with my new Maronda home in 2007. I've never had a problem with the unit. I have a programmable thermostat that keeps the house at 75 degrees during the nights and weekends and up to 80 while I'm at work. My power bills are typically $110.00 per month during the summer and I sacrifice nothing. The Maronda house around the unit, however, is a pile of crap. Cracks in the ceiling that were "Fixed" multiple times under warranty became my problem once the warranty expired. In summary: Buy a Tempstar, avoid a Maronda home.

"Un equipo de puta madre"
Compré en Argentina un equipo de 5 toneladas tempstar sin saber bien de que se trataba. Un primo que vive en usa me dijo que era bueno. No se equivocó. Lleva 17 años funcionando perfectamente, jamás fue necesario un service. I bought a 5 tons. Central Unit 17 years ago and still is working fine. I have never had to ask for service. Very good. Very satisfied!

"Tempstar has been good to me!"
My central air was installed in 1992 and has never been serviced at all. It still works perfectly. It is a 12 seer scroll compressor. What more can one say?

"My Tempstar"
Ive had a few tempstar units on a few of my properties and I can say that they are great. I havent had any problems with them. 99.9% of the time if an A/C unit goes down, its not the compressor, but probably something wrong with the installation being too small, too big, not properly installed, etc. And just as an FYI, TempStar does not make the cooling coils or the piping that goes from the condenser/compressor to the inside of the house. Those are all made and supplied by another company, usually subcontractor. If an AC unit fails in less than 10 years, then 99.9% of the time, its the fault of the installer. An AC unit needs to be properly sized, located correctly, and correctly installed for it to work without problems. If the piping is not properly braised and leak tested, if the lines are not properly evacuated after braising and before charging, if not properly charged, then the unit will fail within a years time. Another tip is when you have a new or replacement unit put in, always ask for a receiver drier to be put inline so that it will eliminate any problems later on. It also helps to watch the installers like a hawk to make sure they are not cutting corners. Chances are, anyone who has had problems with their Tempstar HVAC, its not because of a faulty product, but because of the HVAC tech wanting a return call because they are paid based on visit/hour. So its really beneficial for them to do shoddy work since its a guaranteed income stream.

"Proper Installation"
I read the reviews by the owners. From the information stated by each unsatisfied owner, and my 35 years of experience it appears that the installation in almost all of the systems was the problem. All manufacturers can have a problem once in awhile. I would recommend any consumer that is having a problem give the contractor a responsible amount of time to make the correction. After giving them a chance if not satisfied get a second opinion. Most of the problems I am seeing deal with leaks or charging caused by improper installation techniques. Check with your local municipalities to determine if your contractor is properly licensed and bonded. There are many installers putting in all brands of A/C equipment out there that are not qualified. If they are licensed chances are they are experienced and will due a professional job.
