"Too many breakdowns"
Living on a fixed income since retirement, this unit is way too costly. Called service man a total of 9 times since buying it. This isn't the his fault, just the fault of the manufacturer. Glad our service man works with us on a fair price of materials used with very little charge for his labor. Our freon leaks out at least every year. We only use it for 5 months a year, so it should last longer than it is. Our warranty hasn't been any help either. We can't keep fixing it indefinitely. Somehow we will have to buy a different unit other than this brand. We are also concerned with the amount of freon that is leaking into the air and area around the house. We can't imagine that it's safe or enviromentally friendly. We will do a large amount of research into the company and customer reviews before buying another unit so we don't end up in the same boat, but only with a different name and much dissatisfaction.

"Not reliable-Beware"
Every year it is the same thing, low coolant. Luckily, our installer has 90% of the time, never charged us for any labor or coolant. He is very dissatisfied with the unit also and has since changed to whom he does business with, no longer TempStar. We like that it runs quiet and works well when it works properly. We dislike having to have it serviced yearly and for the last 2 years 2-3 times each year. We would not recommend buying this brand to others, nor will be be buying another TempStar ever.

"8 Years of Trouble"
8 years ago I had a high efficiency Tempstar unit installed. Had to have it charged every year for 3 years while they could not find the leak. They replaced the A coil/blower unit and it still leaked until the compressor went out 3 years ago. Now I'm sitting here with another blown compressor. Bought 10 years of warranty and was told thatthe warranty company went bankrupt. I don't doubt it if they covered nothing but Tempstar. All I can say is what a piece of JUNK!

"Tempstar model PHF042K000E"
I purchased my unit less than two years ago. On June 10, 2010, it stopped working so I called a service repair man out. After checking the unit, he told us that he would call and see what the warranty covers and get the part needed. He called back to say that the part needed is the evaporator coil and that he has checked on getting the part and found out that there is not one available in the country until sometime late July 2010. I have called ICP and Tempstar at every number that I have found. I have been put off and told that a senior manager would be calling me. I have called more than 12 times and emailed every address available to me. Today is June 16, 2010 and I have not heard from anyone. I am disabled and have a husband and children living with me. We stayed in a hotel for the first three nights in hopes that it would be repaired soon since it is less than two years old and still under the company, no hassle warranty. We are staying in our house now because we can no longer afford to stay in a hotel. It is 80-90 degrees in here at all times. How would consumers like to hear my story when they are deciding what brand of unit to purchase? I bet it would not be an ICP brand. Feel free to contact me day or night with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your time. Kim Barnes Heber Springs, AR 501-206-5535 shawnandkim@suddenlink.net

We have had nothing but problems since we bought this unit. First the condenser went out. Now, the condenser fan motor has stopped working for the 3rd time. We have replaced the condenser fan motor twice. We were also told we had a freon leak. I am extremely dissatisfied with this inferior product! My husband wants to buy the condenser motor and replace it himself because the part alone cost between $272-$290.

I had a sub-contractor furnish and install 36 n9mp2 units less than 6 months ago. The local supplier will not warranty the units. The local supplier is ACR Supply in West Monroe. Louisiana. I can't find a # to Tempstar to call and talk to someone.

"Junk"
This unit was placed in the home by the builders Mercedes home. Closed in July 2003, had to have the compressor replaced in Jan 2004. Then in winter of 2007, compressor had to be replaced again. Summer of 2007, Freeon kept leaking only to find the the coils had a leak, and get this it was under warranty, but when the company was called to schedule an appointment they had filed bk and therefore no one replaced them. There have been other problems such as the condensor going bad twice. Even Tempstar does not stand by their product. My advice to anyone buy Trane or Carrier.

I paid $6500.00 for what I thought was a quality unit. We had bids as low as $4100.00. I should have taken the low bid. In 2 1/2 years, the compressor failed (my old unit lasted 20 years ) - CoolQuest(the installer) is coming back out to replace my 2 1/2 year old compressor for only another $875.00. I am going to do my very best to try and inform as many people as I can about your lousy product. I am out of work right now and I want to thank you very much for me losing more money out of my bank account. I am sure this is falling on closed ears but your company and CoolQuest should be ashamed of yourselves. It's no wonder people are losing faith in America. None of our companies stand behind anything they make.

Review:
"tempstar poor design and quality"
This unit came with my new house, Holiday Builders in Fort Myers, Floida. One design flaw is the location of the replacement filters. It's located under the handler. I have to physically lift the whole unit ( heavy as hell )with one hand and replace the filter with the other. What was the Tempstar designers thinking? Not the consumer I guess. Also, within the first three years my coils froze up and I was told by a/c professionals that looked at the unit to replace them as they have "rusted". They do not recommend these units as they have so many problems and good luck trying to find parts. Right now my outside condensor fan is banging and I have to shut down the whole unit so I won't piss off the neighborhood. I don't recommend Tempstar to anyone.

Review:
"Frustration Never Ending"
I have a Tempstar central air unit that came with the whole house heating/cooling system that was installed. I've had nothing but problems with the air conditioning unit. For years it made this horrible clunking sound when it would turn off - came to find out it was the condesor failing. Last summer sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Had the installer come out last summer and they told me that the condensor needed to be replaced, but the warranty only covers the unit, not the labor - which would cost me approx. $700 - are you kidding? Now its spring and the condensor will not kick on at all. Why would I bandaid a less than adequate unit rather than replace with something that will hopefully be much more quiet, efficient and last 3 times longer. Ridiculous! Dont buy one.
