"Very Satisified"
I have owned a Tall Ruud Central Air Conditioning system for 16 years. Two years ago, the company I work for started to carry the Ruud Brand. Almost every day someone tells me they love their system. Almost all of the problems that arise with an air conditioning system come from bad planning, wrong equiptment selection, wrong size ducting, bad power supply, poor service, and a bad installing contractor!!!! Get references, buy quality work and enjoy the tax rebates while they last. Ruud is a tremendous product, choose your system and installer wisely. I know I sell it every day!

"Very Pleased"
After reviewing air conditioners, Ruud was the best one. So I purchased one 15 years ago and installed it on my previous house. I used it for eight years without any problems. It was also very quit due to the special bearings. I recently purchased a new home with an Armstrong A/C. Even though I have not had any problems, I do not trust it. It is very noisy in general.

"34 years before it died!!!!!"
My ac unit just died today. The compressor finally went out on the "ole gurl". I called a service tech out thinking it might just need a shot of freon, but later found out the compressor had locked up. This unit has a manufacturer label on it that dates it back to 1974. Yes, that's 34 years old!!!! I lived here 6 years and have had to have some freon added to the unit a couple times. I don't know if I'll replace the unit with another Ruud because of them being a foreign owned company now, but man did they make a great American product 34 years ago!

"Extremely reliable units"
I live in phoenix arizona, and like it cool in the house. I have a 2 story house, and 2 ruud units, one for each floor. I am amazed at how reliable they have been for me, in arizona, the summer temps exceed 110 often, and they just keep going and going. I was told by an ac guy that ruud sucked in 1997 and that my units would likely not last long, and suggested of course I buy his brand (carrier). I must say, 12 years after telling me that, they are still functioning very well, all I do is maintain them (clean coils, etc) and use electrostatic filter which I clean often.

"So far no problems"
Replaced Comfortmaker contractor unit this year after 8 years. The unit for the top floor was attached to the basement, and the line was crimped so the unit always was on, and we never were cool. Best estimate was for the Ruud 3 ton 16 seer, 3 thousand less than Trane. So far we are very comfortable, and the unit has been running in the low stage only.

"Runs Great"
Have a Rudd 3.5 Ton unit that replaced a Bryant (lasted 5 years 3 compressors)and a Rheem (lasted 5 years numerous leaks. Have never had it serviced and it continue to run like new. Cools my 2,000 sf home in S. Florida year round (never use heat). It is a great unit, however, when I replace it I will not be doing so with a Rudd since it is not an American owned company anymore. Susidary of a company based in Japan.

"Ruud working good in Houston"
Had a Ruud 4-ton, 12 seer complete system installed in my house July 4th 2004. The unit works great and we consistently have the lowest electric bills when compared to my neighbors with similar size homes. I researched central A/C systems and they are the sum of 4 sepearate components that need to matches and meshed together to work properly. Outdoor unit, indoor coil, indoor blower and duct work. The best contractors understand this and take a systems approach when quoting a job. The key to a good install is interviewing the contractor and not so much the brand he backs.

"UANL unit just put in service"
This unit was just installed when my six year old Rheem died. The difference between the two is like night and day. The Ruud is ice cold and it is whisper quiet too. It is keeping the entire house very comfortable and is going to save me on the electric bill.

"2 Ton 14 SEER Achiever"
This unit works great, is quiet and cools quickly. Reading some of the other reviews it sounds like people are having installation problems. If the unit freezes up on you that is typically an incorrect "charge". If the house is cooled unevenly that is a duct work problem - the flow isn't balanced properly or the vents aren't large enough. Mine is doing the main floor and basement and works great, cools quickly, and much cheaper than running 3 window units (12k, 8k, and 6k). It is also very quiet!
