"The worst"
This is by far the worst ac system I have ever seen. The unit always has something wrong, takes forever to cool down, super extremely inefficient, and it's time to replace it. Has no longevity, and extremely expensive to run. I bought it new 8 years ago. My contractor was excellent, but if he doesn't have something other than Ruud, he is S.O.L on this next unit.

"Not for Texas"
Will not keep you cool in the Texas heat. Have one home unit 7 years old and one commercial unit. They both cool at night but do not cut it in the afternoon. Residential had replaced a York with same BTUs -- within a week they had to put in a larger unit. Still not getting the job done. Service guys frustrated -- they say it is doing all it will do. Do not buy Ruud.

"My Amana is better than my old Ruud"
I pulled out my Ruud air conditioning unit and furnace and installed a larger Amana furnace and air conditioning unit what a difference. More quiet, more cool and more heat. Sad my Ruud was only 6 years old and never performed and made so much noise I felt sorry for my neighbors. Buy an Amana, you'll be glad you did.

the compressor was knocking when shutting down, replaced shortly after install, same problem now, dealer wants about $400 to instal new one. I had a Barg before which performed about 13 years. I have to hold off laying out the money now and what happens 2 or 3 years down the road? I am a very unhappy camper, fell like I made a BAD CHOICE.

I own 15 apartments with 15 rudd units.Had trouble with all 15 from day one. Had to replace all 15 coils, real nightmare. They all get worked on every summer. Have replaced some patched the others to get by. Rudd is without a doubt the worst a/c on the market.I would not ever purchase any item that has rudd stamp on it. JUNK

We purchased a rudd ac unit for our home and have had to have the unit repaired every summer and sometimes two or three times a summer, I contacted a factory rep last year and they sent some one out to look at it and repair it, well it is summer onve more and the unit will not work , when the factory rep was contactedthis year i was told it was my problem. I would never purchase any thing made by this company.

I have had several problems with my RUUD system and am now contemplating going to a Lennox system. Have paid almost as much in repairs as I did for the system new. System is only six years old and has cost me well over $2000.00 in repairs by replacing the evaporator coil assembly, holes in lines, freon (and lots of it). The majority of the repairs have been in the last year, since the warranty expired. Some early on repairs too, so we've never had total confidence in this system. I will never buy another RUUD system, nor recommend it to anyone. In fact I'll recommend against it.

I have had this 4.5 ton unit less than 5 yrs and have replaced everything but the compressor in it.I believe ruud should be accountable for selling such pieces of crap.I THINK THEY SHOULD REPLACE IT FOR ALL THE FREON THAT THE AC COMPANY HAS LET OUT IN THE AIR AND MADE ME PAY FOR. BAYOU CITY IN NEEDVILLE TX.
