Overview of the P
Mitsubishi's P Series features a broad range of commercial and residential room air conditioners, including eight indoor units and four outdoor units. These models are available in wall-mounted, floor-standing, ceiling suspended, ceiling-conceal or 4-way cassette configurations. Ductless and ducted versions are offered.
While each P series models varies in specifications, most units are Energy Star-qualified and are promoted by the manufacturer for their efficient, quiet operation in part due to using a compressor with variable-speed cooling known as “inverter technology.” The fan also contributes to the units’ low noise levels by automatically slowing its speed when the system detects a dip in the outdoor temperature. With the slower fan speed, operation noise is reduced by 3 decibels.
A user-friendly control system, easy to install reusable filters and galvanized steel casing finished with acrylic or polyester powder coating for maximum durability are additional benefits of this series. Mitsubishi also factory tests every unit before shipment.

"Failing Mitsubishi compressors"
We installed 47 Mitsubishi hvac units one year ago, in 2011. We have had to replace 5 pumps and now a compressor..after less than one year of service! The cost is $1,800 for parts and labor, which is not covered.
Other P Reviews
While the P Series is sold largely for commercial applications, consumers and professionals around the web generally like Mitsubishi cooling equipment. Contractors note Mitsubishi's long history of producing ductless split-air conditioner and the quiet operation and easy installation that can go hand-in-hand with the company's units. Some forum posters also mention a solid warranty and having received prompt, helpful support when needed.
Similarly, homeowners enjoy the quiet operation of their Mitsubishi unit and note the quality components, including the compressor, which has required few repairs since installation. Among the few difficulties noted with this unit is that some homeowners on hvac-talk.com report having trouble locating a contractor in their area with experience working on Mitsubishi cooling units.
