allways remember that the technician is not allways right when it comes to condemning compressors or other parts, or even equipment for that matter. Just because they say a part is bad dosn't mean it is. Also installation is more than 50% of the whole package. A poor install will ruin your equipment just as quick as a poor installation. Most brands are very dependable, the were installed sloppily and maintained incorrectly.; Just my experience.

We too had the problem when the a/c kicked on it, smelled like old gym lockers. Was told the problem was the a/c unit we put was much larger than the old one, so we did not have a large enough air return. We put in another one on the ceiling in another part of our home. Problem fixed.
