"13ACD-030-230-01 and 13ACD-042-230-01"
My two ac units came with our new home in 2006. On 5/7/10 a bad condenser motor had to be replaced on the upstairs for $305.00. On 4/29/11 Repaired a leak on the e-Coil on the downstairs unit for $346.00. On 7/30/12 I had to replace a 5mfd capacitor and a blower capacitor for $487.00. Seems that either Lennox' products are inferior or the repair company is taking me for a ride. Which is more likely?

"Dave Lennox Signature Collection"
My understanding was this was the top of the Lennox line with only one model above it. Expensive. Yes, it is efficient, quiet and attractive. After owning it for only 1 1/2 years { I live in the midwest, so it only is in use when the temperature is above around 80 degrees: 6 months or less per year.} the fan goes out on the compressor on a 100 degree day. I was shocked to have a malfunction with this level of use. Couple this with the fact that the service tech buffoon replaced the new fan motor on my only {other} functioning unit and not the faulty one only added to the problem. This coupled with a $188 service charge! The motor was covered, not labor!! I know the service charge is not the fault of the manufacturer but it does reflect on the whole customer service/quality control issue, especially when repairs are flubbed up. High end products should have high end dealers and service. Except for this episode the units have worked as expected but they are still quite new. I would not expect this type of failure this early in a unit costing this much. For those shopping these, also look at Trane products and cross shop reliability and warranty service. Negotiate the service warranty!

Review:
"Intelligent does not apply to designers of this"
Bought communicating furnace/AC/thermostat combo. Very efficient stuff, but... Thermostat display panel throws off enough heat to throw off a/c temperature-over cools by 3-4 degrees @70 degree setting. Solution is to shutoff display and have it only on when you touch it! You think they would know enough to move the temperature sensor away from the lightbulb! Unit lasted through one cooling season without breaking. Start of second cooling season-did not cool. "Intelligent" circuitry did not give any error messages--unit just thinks its running. Since warantee not cover labor, rang up $450 to replace outdoor fan motor. So far not know long run reliability, but starting off pretty poorly.

"Leaking coils"
There are 2 new units. Both have had leaking coils and corrosion requiring new installation of coil unit. One has been replaced 2 times. While the a/c installer gets new coil units it costs me almost $500 each time for labor to replace each coil. He seems to think there is something in this new house causing the corrosion then lets the cooling gas leaks out. I disagree as there is an old unit (saved from old house) upstairs that is not leaking. I worry once the warrenty expires then I will have to pay for both coils and labor. He says he doesn't have the same problem elsewhere.

"HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE"
We are an air conditioning company. Every time I have to call Lennox customer service I want to scream, they have the worst most untrained people.

"Becoming concerned"
I have called back the dealer twice and complained the unit does not dispel enough moisture from the air (of course they came out and said it was fine) My other air conditioner I had prior to this (carrier 23 yrs) would pump water into pit constantly with the lennox I hardly hear a trickle. It may sound odd but I never serviced the other (carrier) once.

"Hope I haven't made an expensive mistake..."
I just signed a purchase order for a new Lennox unit, the X-17 ($9000!) to replace the one currently in place (but not functioning, as I swelter in 90 degree whether). Bought my home new in 2001- construction grade Lennox model of the Elite Series (CB30 M or something like that) broke down within 3 months of moving in. It was still in warranty so I did not have to pay to have it replaced. Has broken down twice. the first time the repairman blamed it on lightening and convinced me to purchase a "surge protection" unit for $75. The next, I never got a good sense of what the reason for the breakdown was. I was on a service plan and arranged for at least one service call a year. Last years service visit- the repairman indicated it would break down within the year and to plan on a new one and sure enough, yesterday was my unlucky day. Service agent came out today and talked me into the X-17 for the aforementioned 9 grand. After reading all these reviews, hope I have not made a big mistake!

"COIL FAILURE"
We install a completely new Lennox System in our home and were told that they had the least problems. ONE YEAR later we are now having major problems the coiling coil failed and the Service company now tells us this in an ongoing problem from Lennos. The also told us it will be a least a few days to get the part. It is now 88 degreees in the house this is not what i paid Thoursands of dollars for andour service provider is great but he cannot fix something that Lennox does not have parts for. This is POOR SERVICE from Lennox from my view.

"Nine Years Service and then leaks"
Gave good service for 9 years then seems to have sprung a leak. Replaced refrigerant after 9 years and then again it seems to need 2.5 lbs of refigerant implying a leak in the coil. I was expecting at least 15 years of trouble free service given I maintain it well.

"Lennox's Dual Zone System Has Problems"
Just spent 839.00 yesterday for a bad control board. I've replaced the fan, had trouble with the furnace, and have a freon leak somewhere. The system is good when it's running well but a piece of junk when it's not. I hope it will keep running another 7 years without costing too much money!
