"Love this Unit"
I had a Sears A/C system that had been installed by my brother and a few of his friends to save money 27 years ago. It never worked correctly. It would run continuously and not keep up with the heat rising. I purchased a Goodman furnace and A/C unit as my furnace was also 27 years old. I will say I am quite happy. The unit quickly cools down and my utility bills are not out of sight. When the professional installer saw the way the old unit was installed, he just shook his head. I am sold that the results are in the professional install.

"Goodman"
Had a Goodman heating and a/c unit installed in my new house in 1997. Over that time the fan motor on the ac unit was replaced in 2008 for $300.00 The ac died after being under 2 ft of water from Sandy. The heater is still running without problems. I am putting in another Goodman ac and hope it gives me the same service. Were they made better years ago??

"Nothing but Great experience -- very satisfied homeowner"
I had a Goodman installed two years ago. So far it has brought my utilities down and we've never felt more comfortable than ever with the new system. People you need to smarten up. It's not Goodman's fault for all of these break downs. It is the original installer!!!!! 90% of these bad reviews are due to poor install. a lot of times it's the size of the equipment as well. Our Goodman was installed by a top rated company in our area, and they stand behind their work. The tech told me that Goodman does not make the internal components. They only make the cabinet, coils, and heat exchangers. He also said that the copeland scroll compressors used in the newer Goodman A/C's and heat pumps are also used in Rheem/Ruud, Carrier/Bryant, etc. Seriously, a class action law suite won't go anywhere because you are blaming the problems on Goodman when the problem was not caused by Goodman. Even a Trane installed poorly will break down all the time. The key to the life of a unit is proper install and proper size. Ductwork also needs so be sized and installed properly. Oh yeah, you can't beat Goodman's warranties, especially if you step up to the Amana line. Remember, hvac/r is not a diy trade. Brands don't matter, it's all about the guy putting it in. No brand is better than another.

"13 years and never a problem"
I bought a new house in 1999 with a Goodman a/c and Furnace. Not one issue in 13 years. I did service on it twice in 13 years (just thought I should). The tech looked at me both times and said "Nothing for me todo". No freon charges, no electrical issues, no blower issues... nothing. If you like drama and excitement in your life..don't buy this unit. It is boring...It just work

"contractor comment"
I'm an a/c contractor that has been installing Goodman equipment for 10 years. This is good quality equipment and I would say that all units break down but by some of the reviews that I'm reading here it sounds like the customers are being lied to about the real problems. Find a quality company that stands behind there work.

"Great unit if installed properly"
I am a regular homeowner who had a Goodman ssx14 unit installed several months ago. I do believe that install matters the most and you get what you pay for. If you need a new a/c unit then find a good company that's certified and properly trained to properly install and size your unit. My Goodman has performed flawlessly and cools great. I think the reason why the unit is running so great with no problems is because it was installed and sized properly.

"contractor for the past 15 years"
The best thing you can do for your a/c is get a good contractor that always replaces bad parts with American parts! The run capacitor is very important it only cost about$35.00. For an American made one get your a/c to install one. When you loose a compressor flush out your system good or the new compressor will have a hard short life.

"Dealer Response"
I read through a lot of these reviews. I read one that is very true. About 90% of what you get from a unit is installation and the contractor. This is especially true if your existing unit had a compressor failure. The entire system must be properly cleaned, the lines flushed out and a good vacuum pulled on the system. The home owner should hire a reputable contractor no matter what brand unit is installed.

"Excellent A/C & Furnace"
I live in Tucson, Arizona and you know what kind of heat we have here. I had two Goodman units (3 Ton and 2 1/2 Ton) installed in our house 4 years ago and they both have performed flawlessly. When I read about people having to pay for service calls and parts I question from whom they purchased their units. When I purchase my units Goodman offered a 10 year warranty on parts and labor. I assume that they still offer this warranty. The gentlemen that installed my units highly recommended them because of this warranty and his experience with Goodman.

"Goodman is good"
Wow, lots of complaints about these units. Mine runs great. I think it is more of the installer than the unit itself. As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for' and my installer told me, the only thing you get with the expensive brands is the brand name. Designer air conditioners? I think not. it keeps us cool, had it 5 years, no problems. Why should I pay a thousand more? Or more? Don't be a sucker. Get a value brand A/C ( this is made in America) and leave the designer logos for the fashion industry. The most important part is hiring a professional, not getting your neighbor and husband to do it.
