"It's not Goodman's fault for all these bad reviews"
When my customers asked me, "Which brand is the best?" I simply tell them it all depends on the install. And it's true. I've been a HVAC/R technician for over 35 years and all I have to say is that 95% of these bad reviews are due to poor installation and lack of maintenance. Improper size is also another problem. Plus, Goodman sells to anyone either qualified or not, which causes so many bad installs. Our company has been selling Goodman for the last 10 years and we rarely have a problem with them. Goodman is owned by Daikin now, and this should really help Goodman/Amana's quality go up. Goodman has had some problems in the past, but those have been corrected. Seriously people, stop blaming the brand. It's the installer's fault. There's no such thing as a brand that is "best".

"bad wrap"
I have had a Goodman for years and believe it or not work on hundreds of Goodman systems. I have read up to 100 of these reviews, and I can tell you that 90% of these bad reviews are not from equipment itself, it is the lack of education and skills of the people who install the systems, and undereducated sales people. Unfortunately Goodman equipment is less expensive compared to the other major manufactures, so it makes it easier for fly by night companies to purchase and sell. Tips: Always ask for extended labor warranties, Goodman has the best warranties over any manufacturers. Make sure that the company that is installing the unit has a good reputation and takes their time. Thank you for reading my review.

"Not All Air Conditioners Created Equal"
I hate the reviewers compairing their Goodman to other brands because they use the same brand compressors. The compressor manufacturer make the compressor to the standards requested by the AC manufacturer. That means a quiet copeland compressor in a lennox unit is not the same as the noisey one designed for the goodman. The same goes for the fans, relays, and other components made for the other AC brands. Why do you think Goodmans are so cheap. And their gas furnaces, You are lucky to get 5 to 10 years from their stamped clamshell heat exchangers. All it takes is poor filter maintenance to cause the rings to pop. No Good Goodman

"Know your contractor"
Before buying ANY hvac equiptment do the homework and find the best dealer in your area.Price has noting to do with it. Talk to people in your area for the BEST dealer. As all dealers know the parts in hvac equiptment are all common to each other. No company makes there own parts they have the same compressor, fan motors, electrical parts, ect. made buy Copeland,GE,Honeywell, ect. The problems are most always installation. Even the coils, line sets, ect. are made by someone else. So when your looking for equiptment don`t look for Name Brand but look for the best dealer and buy what he sells. Service and knowlege of hvac are more important than brand.

"Contractor"
I am a HVAC Contractor in the Houston area and have been installing all brands of Air Conditioners in the past 22 years. I just happened upon this website and started reading reviews on several brands of equipment, not to many good things said about several brands including Goodman. Please purchase the Extended or Labor Warranties when purchasing any HVAC equipment. Most manufacturers are shipping parts to other countries to be assembled and shipped back into the U.S. These units are stacked, bumped, knocked around, and damaged during shipping. This is creating leaks in Condenser and Evaporator Coils. I wish this HVAC equipment was assembled in the U.S. we would not be having half as many problems with the less expensive labor costs and shipping damage. I have done Warranty work on all brands of equipment in the last 5 years, Coils are leaking everywhere, and when a coil is leaking freon, the Compressors will go out. Good Luck and have annual service checks.

"quit whining, know the facts"
I install A/C units for a living, I also service them.I sell Goodman, and other brands, but most of the time customers want low price. to tell ya the truth, most all brands of A/C units use the same compressor manufacturers, and if the unit isnt installed right, for example, the lines arent clean, or the air ducting is too small for the tonnage, or the wiring isnt large enough to handle the current draw, a PROBLEM WILL surface. we have units that have been in service for 35 plus years, still chilling-- Goodman sells more equipment in the US than any other brand, it would stand to reason, that some of the equipment will be improperly installed, or a part will fail.that is just the law of mechanical engineering. if you doubt that, just read any of the other brand reviews--all similar, complaints most arising from improper installs. I try to install every unit like I would for my own home, and I guess it works, I have VERY few problems with any thing I install. Maybe I just luck out and get all the good units huh?? Most of the service problems I see in the field, are due to lack of maintenence, or parts just plain wearing out from being over worked (too small for the task size). I do get tired of people whining though lol they make more noise than the compressors-----

I purchased a 3.5 ton Goodman ac with gas heating outside unit for my home 15 years ago. Yesterday, the cooling cools inside sprang a major a leak and lost all of the freon, so I am now ready look for another unit. The unit I have ran okay for 15 years. It had to be re-charged with freon every year because it had a slow leak. Also, the gas lighter was over powered, and I had to replace the transformer that powered it with a lower voltage unit (the part was given to me free because they knew it was defective). The gas valve also had to be replaced 3 years ago (cost $200).

"funny huh?"
I was planning on having a Goodman ac installed since my installer talked up the 10 year warranty but after reading these reviews, I noticed something a little funny. The only good reviews seem to be from contractors who say it's "all in the installation". All the other reviews without fail are all very disgruntled customers. Also if it's all in the install, why is it most of these customers have parts breaking dowm or major freon leaks almost right away? Funny huh?
