"Owner"
Goodman air conditioners are great, they work the same as any "name brand" air conditioner, when installed properly and matched with the proper evaporator coil. I suspect all the negative reviews of this or any make/brand air conditioner are the result of people going for the low bid / low ball estimates, installation by idiots who don't care about anything they do will not work for long. Goodman doesn't warranty their units purchased over the internet...for good reason, I wouldn't either.

"Total junk"
I had a local reputable business install a new furnace and ac unit as our old compressor failed. Every year I've had a tech out to fix it. This year the coils freeze up. I had a tech come out and charge me a $300 bill to charge with freon and that night it froze again. It had been loosing freon. Easy and is a total piece of junk. Never again. The old system worked better for longer.

"Goodman is THE Worst Air Conditioner in The World!"
My mother purchased a Goodman Air Conditioner 3 years ago to replace out 35 year old ge ac unit. The coils freeze if the temp is turned below 72. Since my bedroom is the farthest from the air handler I need to turn it down to 70 degrees to achieve a temperature of under 82 in my room. The unit needs daily maintenance to keep it running. The house was dank and humid for the 1st 18 months so it didn't handle humidity well. The coils freeze at least once a day. I turned it up to 72 for a couple of days. They still froze twice a day. The contractor said there is nothing wrong with the unit but it completely fails (frozen coils aside) twice a week. I now work for an ac company and every time I hear the service calls for poor wiring in the air handler and, leaking coils, and condenser failure I ask if it's a Goodman and 100% of the time... It is. I change the filter weekly and keep a turkey baster by the drain line to check for overflow. In the last month the unit completely shut down 6 times for various and sundry electrical issues. Goodman is the cheapest ac on the market but what is has cost me in ac emergency calls (12 months a year in S. Florida) makes it the most expensive unit you can buy. From what I observed in the last few months of working for an ac company I would strongly advise anyone considering a new ac to buy a Rheem for a few extra dollars. Our 35 year old ge unit didn't give us the headaches we have experienced with this Goodman ac. In fact, we have had more ac problems with the new Goodman ac in less than 3 years than we did in 35 years with our old air conditioner. Goodman is the worst air conditioner money can buy. the worst. Not just my experience. I hear the "no cool" calls all day long at the ac company I work for. I wish I knew 3 years ago what I know now. do not buy a goodman!

"Beyond very unsatisfied"
Had unit installed by Goodman contractor in July 2007. Unit serviced every year. Unit frequently needed topping off of refrigerant. This year major refrigerant leak from evaporator coil due to formancy corrosion. Evaporator coil to be replaced with new style aluminum coil. Goodman contractor doing repair. Cost $2,000. Goodman air conditioner, never again. Class Action Legal Suit, count me in.

"2AC units installed 2008"
The main unit coil failed within one year and was replaced under warranty. Now the coil has failed again in the main unit and needs to be replaced. Had the second unit checked and found a leak in the coil on this unit also. I will change the ac units once the parts warranty runs out and they will not be Goodman units.

"SSX160481AB"
We replaced our 21 year old system ,that by the way was working great, but like fools we thought we probably were due for an update, with a 4 ton Goodman unit--nothing but trouble from the first month ( July 2009)We have had service calls upon service calls --as I write this I am waiting on a technician to arrive for repairs. Most companies won't even come out for Goodman repairs--the a/c company that we purchased it from went broke & now is out of business-so they're no help in this matter.I See another $5,000-7,000 being spent in the near future for another system---Goodman is the worst.

"Evaporator Coil Problem"
In July 2007 we had a Goodman gsc130361 13 seer high efficiency louvered condensing unit and matching cased evaporator coil capf3636. New refrigerant lines were installed. Today a major refrigeration leak was found from the evaporator coil due to corrosion. Evaporator coil needs to be replaced with new style aluminum coil. The cost $2,000.00 The unit cost me $4,500.00 not 4 years ago. I believe a unit should hold up better than this. Thinking of starting Civil Suit against Goodman. I believe they knew about problem with units built between 2007 and 2009.

"Worst Piece of Garbage"
We purchased a Goodman outdoor air conditioner in August 2008, If memory serves me right that fall was very cool, so we only used it a dozen times. The following spring, a capacitor needed to be replaced (under warranty). The following spring, a capacitor, freon, and the main compressor needed to be replaced (the parts were under warranty, but I had a $500 bill for labour.) The following spring, it again did not work, the freon was completely gone, another $400 bill. That august, it stopped working again, the capacitor needed to be replaced, and the freon was again low. This spring, it again stopped working, will not cool. We are going to now replace a 3 year old air conditioner as I cannot continue repairing this unit. totally disgusting service.

"Terrible AC Unit"
Very sorry I purchased this 16 seer Goodman ac. Installed in November. First service call within a couple of months, second service call within a couple of months of that and now on third service call. 1. Unit didn't heat on reverse cycle until 2 days after turned on. 2. Stopped Cooling. 3 Stopped Cooling. Service people come and flush out line, replace thermostat, I don't know what they will do this time, but it always costs me money.

"Caveat emptor on Goodman"
Our unit is less than 3 years old and we just had to have the compressor replaced. It was still under warranty so there was no charge on the replacement compressor, but the labor charge was over $600. If we had it to do over, our purchase would not have been a Goodman. The guy who did the replacement said he would never buy a Goodman and he works for the company who sold it to us.
