"DSXC180481 has been great"
I bought this unit from ac wholesalers and had professional assistance installing it, but did a lot myself. It is highly efficient, quiet, and has great installation instructions someone handy can follow. The components, E.G. Copeland scroll compressor and Emerson control boards and txv are the same as more expensive units. I have to agree that those who are having problems are in some cases older designs or poor installation. If you don't replace the line set, evacuate the system, etc. you are bound to have problems. So Far awesome unit for a great price.

"2 ton units 16 seer"
My 2 units have been in place since March. Hot weather hit North Carolina early and it has remained hot. I replaced 2 Trane units, their slogan is nothing runs like a Trane, those units lasted 25 years. If the Goodman continues that long we can add Goodman runs like a train and cheaper. Very satisfied and would go Goodman again as well as recommend. I got a local contractor to beat my internet price and his installation cost was very reasonable and professional.

"Topeka HVAC"
I have been in the heating and cooling industry for almost 25 years and can't believe the reviews on this brand of equipment. If you look closely at the reviews you will see that it has been the company servicing them that is the problem not the manufacturer. There are a lot of hack company's out there and service men that don't give a hoot and this gives the good ones a bad name. Goodman has changed the design of there systems in the past five years to the better, they have great technical support, they have warrantied a noisy heat pump that was over 1 1/2 years old (paid us to change the unit) and there was no charge to the customer. The customer loves the unit now. Bottom line is: it is not the system that is the problem it is the service company's that are. Reading about a capacitor that blows up and this means that you need a new unit, B.S. With the record temperatures we have had capacitors have taken a beating this year. How about the lady who replaced 7 indoor coils, the service company can't find the correct problem. Could be airflow, blower speed set up, poor duct design: that company needs to move on to do something else. I hold Goodman feet to the fire when problems arise and they have always responded to take care of my customers. Like I said,it is not the equipment it is the company who installs and services the equipment that you are partnering with and if they can't take care of you and make it right they don't know what they are doing and it is time to find someone who can.

"Excellent deal on a Foreclosure"
Just purchased a foreclosed home that had a 4 year old Goodman ac unit, the home inspection told us that the ac unit needed service. The single mom that had owned the house never did yearly service and only changed the filter a couple times a year. The house was okay cool when we took ownership. I went ahead and had the unit serviced and the coils cleaned. He added some freon and oil, now Oh my God!!! The house has such low humidity now and we had it set at 68 degrees but the house is cold enough to hang meat. Looks like we got a good Goodman built on a good day. Happy we bought the house with this ac unit.

"HVACR contractor"
I have been installing air conditioner and heat pumps for over 40 years. The problems I have been reading are all installation problems and the brand will make no difference. I have sold at least 10 brands and have serviced all brands for years. They are all good but very poor tech's 90-% of my work is correcting the problems I have been reading about!! Sorry you need better service people!! Art

"Tech"
Reading all the bad reviews makes me realize how many hacks are in the industry. I totally agree with Mr Freeze: it is not the equipment but how it is installed, started and maintained. As for the homeowner who thinks Copeland makes a different compressor for Carrier than they do Goodman, wrong. You could buy the most expensive equipment and have Slash and Run, Inc install it and it will fail quickly. Equipment must be properly sized; pipes must be kept clean by purging with nitrogen while being brazed. Vacuum must be pulled on equipment to 500 microns. Then charge must be adjusted per charts included with equipment. Many hacks just purge freon thru line set which is against EPA regulations. I have made much coin with Goodman and have many pleased customers. I have a 20 yr old Janitrol and plan to replace it with a Goodman. Seems that the weakest part on all equipment these days is the capacitor. Don't know why. The older units used an oval one that was larger in size than new ones. So if you want the cost of advertising or sponsoring sporting events added to cost of equipment buy a name brand. If you want same components for a lower cost buy Goodman. Goodman does have 10 yr warranty on all parts and lifetime on compressor. Much better than other manufacturers. Mr Freeze, keep up the quality work.

"Goodman Central Air Conditioner: A Great Purchase"
A few months ago I purchased a Goodman DSXC180601 central air conditioner system for my home and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The summers can get very hot here so this air conditioner has been a lifesaver. I cannot comment personally on the installation process since I hired someone do install it for me, but there were no complications in the process and the installation went smoothly. The Goodman DSXC180601 has done an excellent job keeping our family cool no matter how hot the weather is, and has required almost no maintenance and has yet to fail us! While the price can be pretty high, the product is definitely worth it. The system is energy efficient so you won't spend a fortune on bills, and it runs so quietly you'll barely notice any noise when it's on and keeping your family comfortable. I would certainly buy a Goodman product again after this purchase. Wonderful air conditioner!

"AFTER 4 years Goodman came thru"
Our nightmare began end of October 2007 - problems with extremely loud start up from the beginning. Within 2 years the compressor was replaced then one part after the other until second repair company (first went out of business) told us they could not fix it, this was 6 months ago. Called Southern Comfort of Webster Florida and they sent Fred Green out. The coil was replaced as well as many minor problems - it would run for awhile and do the same thing again - losing freon. This is a long saga and I am trying to shorten it. Fred was tenacious in testing everything to find the problem, kept telling us Goodman was a good product & he had never seen anything like this before - had to be an answer. He already knew, I suspect, it was the original install & later incompetence of the second company. Yes we had complained to Goodman BUT they had no record of all the replacement parts - I thought they were lying. This last outage Mr Green threw up his hands - contacted the go to guy with Goodman WHO being a very resourceful guy contacted our insurance and found that yes indeed the second company had turned in dozens of labor costs for our unit (we never went 6 months without a repair). This cost us lost work, miserable cold nights in winter and horrid temps in summer. The inconvenience was miserable and no one cared. Also the wrong refrigerant was put in once. Had Mr Green not been so through we would have had to buy a new unit, when this one was deficient from the get go & not even 4 years old. Being low on freon probably caused the compressor to go & maybe other problems. The nerve wracking gun shot sound when unit started up reminded us every time the huge mistake we had made - oh and the power bills _this is a 14 seer _ were no better than our much lower seer. Happy ending was that the guy called Goodman with his research into our system and within 20 minutes Goodman said to put in a new unit. It is happily and quietly purring along now - not running all the time and cooling great. As I have read on many postings about Goodman from the pros - I cannot stress enough - GET CERTIFIED SKILLED TECHNICIANS to install your system -ask for their membership cards - just because the owner of the place is certified DOES NOT mean his workers are and they will ALL tell you they are certified to work on your system. I think only 3 companies make all the systems on the market - I read everything I could find online about air conditioners and EVERY PRO said "it is the quality of your installer and techs" BELIEVE IT!
