"Could be better...."
I had a gpg13481151ab package unit installed 10-2008. Summer of 2009, a/c unit started freezing up. Installer came out and found small leak and recharged unit. The condenser fan was vibrating badly, so I asked what could be done. He stated there was an updated blade available under warranty, so I asked to get me one and I would install it. He refused, saying he made a living on service calls so he would have to install it. Guess the $3600.00 we paid for unit. 1 year ago did not register with him. I installed new fan blade 7-2010 with new one, and it still sounds like an airplane prop during run-up. Not too happy with unit nor the installer/service man.

"Valve leaks freon in the winter - buyer beware"
Had a Goodman AC installed in 2008. Worked fine until the first hot day in 2009 when no cold air was blowing out of the vents. The AC contractor found out that the unit did not have any freon. It leaked out over the winter months. Apparently, a bad valve design allows the gas to leak at lower temperature. They probably did not account for cold temperature contraction of the material used for the valves. My AC contractor tried to get reimbursed for the warranty work but has not received a penny from the manufacturer.

"Would not reccommend Goodman"
Bought an entire new Goodman 14 seer variable speed air conditiong unit at the end of 2007. Compressor blew 1/2010. $1100 in repairs. Three days later the txu broke, another $280. Parts are covered under warranty, but what good is that when your repair bills are through the roof?

"Goodman A/C unit won't shut off"
We had a Goodman 2-1/2 ton, 30,000 btu central air unit installed as a replacement to a Trane a/c in May 2008. The problem began right away, it won't shut off. We have a 2200 sq. ft ranch home and it cools the house but takes a very long time to reach the temp set on the thermostat. We've had 3 programmable thermostats (2 courtesy of our installers) thinking they could be faulty but that didn't solve the problem. The unit runs 2 to 3 hours non-stop before shutting down briefly and that doubled our electric bills last summer over what it cost us to run the Trane unit. Our installers have been dilligent trying to solve the issue including extending the labor warranty for an extra year, which we appreciate. I've just turned the unit on for the first time this season and the house was at 80 degrees, it's been running for almost 3 hours without shutting down and the temp in the house is just at 75, the thermostat is set at 74. Even when the house reaches 74 it doesn't shut off. They installed a larger coil at the end of the season last year hoping it would solve the problem....no luck, it still doing the same thing. The fan seems to slow down after a time and not push with the velocity it starts out with. I have a feeling this unit has a problem that can't be resolved and should be replaced. I'm sure my installers won't be happy to get my call tomorrow.

"Leaker"
I had a 3 ton Goodman unit installed at my residence. The unit had a slow leak that could not be located from day one. r-22 was added every 3-4 months. The speed of the leak increased and I began to notice an oily film adhering to the condenser coil. Sure enough, that was where the leak was, at the top of the coil where the "u" shaped copper was brazed at the factory into the coil itself. Had to pay for a coil installation labor though the coil was free. I will not buy this product again.

"Don't Buy One!!!"
We bought the Goodman ac/gas furnace 2 years ago. The furnace works great. As far as the ac unit it started to freeze up after 2 years of use. We called the repair person, its low on freon and the coil has a leak! There trying to blame it on our well water. Saying we need to get a aerator for our well. But the ac unit that we had for 8 years before that worked great until the last year. I think it's the until from all the vibration, Because Its So loud. The vibration causes the coil to rub against other parts, meaning the coil will eventually have a leak. I would not buy another Goodman or recommend it to anyone!!!!
