"Mike-Chattahoochee,Fl."
Bought a new air handler and outside unit late Summer 2009. No problem until November 2009. The outside unit freezes up. A complete layer of ice over all the entire unit. The installer stated this is normal. However, he did come and checked it. The problem was in the defrosting. Replaced the defroster Thursday, 12/24/09. On 12/26/09, the unit was frozen again, blocking airflow and the inside air handler is blowing out cold air. Called the installer and he told me to keep running the unit so it can defrost. A little ice is normal. This, my friends is not a little bit of ice. It's a solid block of ice on all four sides of the outside unit. I'm thinking it's a freon leak or lack thereof.

"Leaking Freon"
This is the second time inn 6 years the upstairs 2 1/2 ton Goodman has failed for leaks. First floor 3 ton only leaked once! Both in the evaporate coils. Of the 75 houses in our neighborhood all with Goodman units 10 have failed in the first 3 years!

"Not Sure what to think yet"
Just moved into a new house and the ac is plowing through electricity like its going out of style. 5 days of use on a 13 seer unit and $100 later I called the install company to come out and take a look. There is no reasonable explanantion other than bad install for this level of usage. All the boards I have read and experts I have spoken to say that this system should be using half the electricty it is using at worst. I hope the issue is resolved soon, the home is 1 month old and I am not looking forward to a $500+ electric bill. Just in case you are wondering, I unplugged all unnecessary appliances and turned everything else off in the house and then turned on one of the two ac units and watched the meter spin away at a pace of 10+ kW/h, this is not normal.

"AHU Variable Speed"
Had a Goodman installed last week, so far so good. My only concern is the variable speed ahu. Seems to blow very hard in the "on" position, reaches the set temp, slows down to almost 0, then blows hard again a short time later. Needless to say this is very distracting and wakes us at night. Hope the installer can fix the situation.

"Goodman Recall???"
1.5 year old 1800 sq ft home gsc13 35000btu unit. After turning on my Goodman a/c for the first time this season and having the temp in my home actually rise 3 degrees after running for 3 hours, I got onto the Goodman website to check out the warranty info. Saw these reviews and became very concerned. Contacted the builder of the house and explained situation to him. He contacted the installer...turns out there is apparently a recall on the valve that connects the line from the unit to the line to the house. Installer will be out tomorrow to replace. There does seem to be a fairly consistent issue in the "newer" installed units though. FYI...just as instructed, I replace the filter at the first of every month and we are very moderate heating/ac users...heat set to come on at 68 and a/c set to come on at 80. To be sure, I'll be keeping a copy of the reviews in my file in case of future issues.

"Goodman is as good as any"
I have been installing Goodman condensing units in my apartments for 20 years on and off. I have also installed Coleman, Rheem, Trane, Ruud and Lennox. Right now I am back to goodman because of the price. Through a wholesaler they are the best deal. For instance I can get a 2.5 ton Goodman 13 seer condenser for $599 delivered. Every unit I have installed has had some type of problem, fan motors, capacitors, burnt wires, freon leaks, fan relays, low voltage transformers, you name I have had it. These problems are not brand specific. For instance I just replaced a 11 year old Rheem unit that looked 3 years old, with a Goodman. Compressor fried. I will probably keep and replace the compressor, but I have to get it running for tenants quickly.

"Goodman A/C unit new construction"
The fan motor has been replaced two times in the life of my unit. Last night, the fan on the compressor went. We have had numerous service calls. The warranty apparently covers nothing - because I always end up paying.

"Own several Goodmans...."
I have used a contractor over the last couple of years, so I now have Goodman in three units.. Townhouse #1 --> Goodman coil only (3 years) Townhouse #2 --> Goodman AC roof unit (2 years) Single Family --> Goodman coil (1 month) No problems so far.. Too soon to tell about quality. However, be aware of the reviews. I was getting nervous that this site had Goodman 2 of 5. As of 6/20/08, I see that Lennox 1 of 5 Rheem 2 of 5 Trane 3 of 5 These are good brands! Conclusion, most people that have problems w/ units are posting.
