"Crazy People"
I used to worked in Air Conditioning in Florida for last 10 years. I know one thing for sure is that Comfortmaker is quality equipment. I stumbled upon this site to get a homeowners perspective of Comfortmaker and must say that I am surprised to read so many negative comments. However, having read so many reviews on this site, my only conclusion is not the equipment but the homeowners ignorance. A contractor has a preference on the equipment he installs. This is due to the fact that he gets a better price as his buying volume is higher. If he is a Trane dealer, he will be unfamiliar with Comfortmaker and do his best to sell you new equipment that he does sell. All equipment comes with 5 year warranties, and when registered they are extended to 10. That is standard practice. So anyone that says they only have 5years was misinformed by the contractor they chose. Comfortmaker is part of United Technologies, who own Carrier. Comfortmaker comes off the same production line as Tempstar, Heil, Keeprite and Day & Night. It’s all identical equipment rebranded for marketing purposes, which also means the parts are all interchangeable. So any contractor that says Comfortmaker parts are tough to get hold of is completely misinforming the homeowner. That doesn't sound like a very reputable contractor to me. A contractor needs to sell themselves and recommend equipment they know to be of good quality. Of course, not every piece of equipment will be perfect, bad luck is not a myth. But if a contractor claims he can't find the problem and $600 down the line says you need a new unit?!?! It's quite easy to spot the fool. Get informed and find out reviews about the contractor you intend to use first, that way you can trust the equipment he recommends. If you have a Comfortmaker unit that is acting up, find a Comfortmaker dealer. They will laugh at the phrase that Comfortmaker parts are hard to find. Don't be an ignorant Homeowner.

"Love it!"
ComfortMaker is part of Carrier. Love the ten year warranty. Bought this 3 ton unit when the 2 ton unit the builder put in was hit by lightning. Efficiency went from 10 seer to 14 seer at the same time. This unit can actually cool my home and makes almost no noise! The hvac contractor recommended it. My house is now cool, quiet and my electric bills have dropped significantly even with a rate increase.

"Satisfied customer"
My model number is not listed above. Had our two units for 13 years (builder installed) and still going strong. Had one repair three years ago, new coil, for upstairs unit. Guess we are very fortunate this product worked so well for us.

"Been installing Comfortmaker for over 6 years now"
Been installing Comfortmaker for over 6 years now or about 6 years. Not one problem whatsoever. I had installed a couple of compressors on comfortmaker ac not ones I installed but another contractor installed and customer told them that they thought the ac was loud which it shouldn't had been loud and the contractor chose to ignore the problem they also installed the system with no filter drier. Needless to say this was the installing contractor fault not the system fault.

"Great cooling and very quiet operation"
I had a new central HVAC system installed in my house in 2010. It is a 2 ton, 13 SEER Comfortmaker split system. Prior to that I had a Whirlpool that was installed new with the house in 1987. That unit never let me down in 23 years! My new Comfortmaker is so quiet and cools very nicely. It has the latest technology that protects against surges, power off-on and lightning. My energy bill is about 30% less now. I am very pleased so far. Also, the contractor who I bought it from and installed it is very professional and competent.

"Comfortmaker"
I have had this unit for 24 years and had 3 service calls. Two calls were for low Freon and one was for the water drain got clogged. The two that needed Freon cost about $200 to repair for each. The clogged drain was less then $100. This unit still cool the house. If I needed another unit it would be a Comfortmaker. When I bought this unit it cost $1,500 installed.

"Hmmmm"
Reading through the negative comments it sounds to me if you have a problem with a machine that early on then you problem is most likely with the person doing the work. One thing most people dont understand, even many contractors(sigh), is that you MUST pull a vacuum to 500microns to remove all moisture when installing a refrigeration system. Other wise the refrigerant will be contaminated and become Acidic. the acid eats away at the electric motor of the compressor untill it shorts out. The only other way you would have coil leaks that early on is if your unit was damaged somewhere in the shipping. Ask your contractor if you can See his Vacuum Guage!

"COMFORTMAKER STILL GOING STRONG!"
It's me again,C.Billings in IL. I said that I never had a problem in 10 years until today (8/19/10. Well I still don't. I went out and checked the unit and found a wire outside of the unit,at the bottom corner on the right that looked kind of aged. I wiggled it to see if it was broken inside maybe, but it didn't come out. Wheen I went back inside the air was working! It is cold and blowing. I went back outide and the unit was working fine! Did a lot of praying, so I guess GOD is my repairman! THANK GOD!

"FIRST TIME HAVING A PROBLEM..."
I purchased my 3 bedroom ranch in the year 2000, and had a ComfortMaker, SoftSound 2000 CA unit installed at the same time. This unit would freeze the pants off of you, and I never had a problem out of it until today, 8/19/10 when I turned it on. Hot air is coming from the register and the unit is buzzing in the back.I have no complaints after 10 years of perfect service. I just pray it's nothing too serious and costly.I ran across this site while looking for a forum to maybe get an idea of what may be wrong with it.I had an excellent technician install it, so maybe I tend to agree with the guy of 22 years in AC. Peace & Blessings All!
