"FORTUNATE"
Compared to what I am reading, we seem very fortunate. Bought our home new 20 yrs ago and it came with 2 Carrier units. The smaller one for upstairs has received the most use and has been repaired 2-3 times, always minor items. Only in this latest California heat wave, the downstairs unit is not cooling. We are now considering replacement. fyi to all regarding sites such as these that post customer comments; the negative comments will always outweight the positive ones because we want everyone to know when we are dissatisfied but usually do not comment when we are happy with what we have. Do as much homework as you can by talking to many sources before you make your choice.

"Can't remember model, (14 seer puron)"
We never had a problem, knock on wood. I've learned from my experience to never buy their newest model. We always purchase the 2nd or 3rd model below their best. I had mine for five years but we sold our home moved to Arizona and I have to say, all manufacturers screw thier clients when it comes to pricing their units in this state! The same a/c that I purchased for $3,500 installed is nearly three times the price and it doesn't come trimmed in gold.

"HVAC tech and love my Carrier!"
My Carrier (Payne) gas pack is probably over twenty years old and in the years I have owned the house, has only needed a condenser fan motor and a squirrel cage. That's saying a lot when it's over 100º much of the summer here. I used to not really like Carriers but I think I'd buy another tomorrow for my personal home. And I have been an HVACR tech since 1978!

"EXCELLENT AC unit !"
This is an amazing piece of engineering. The unit was installed in 2000 and it is now 10 yrs. later and we just had our first service done to the unit. The compressor broke down and we now have to replace it. Yes, we had a reputable contractor install it, and you "cannot just pick up anybody of the street." You need a knowledgeable contractor and licensed, to make sure you will get the job done. Probabilities are, that we will be installing another Carrier since we lasted 10 yrs. with this unit. We live in Las Vegas and our temps. are extremely hot in the summer. That should say a lot about this brand.

"Get LIves"
Get real, people. Rheem, Carrier, and Trane are always on top of Consumer Reports. It's your installers! You all want sh*# done cheap, so you deserve the problems you have. I sure as hell bet you do your research about how your house was built before you buy, right? Do some damn research before you give Joe Schmoe Heating $5k to install a system in your house.

"Could not be happier!"
I have had nothing but Carrier and would never have anything but! The company that installs and services the unit is every bit as important as the product. I use Sears! So many people cut corners to save a few dollars and then complain about the product!! It is not the product, my friends! It is the installers. Carrier is rated best of the best year after year by Consumer Reports. The information is factual and not biased. Products are rated as Good, Better and Best. So are the companies that install the products! People need to do their homework.

"Old Model is Great"
Our 32 year-old Carrier air conditioning is still running great. I'm thinking of replacing it only because they say the new ones are more efficient and I can also take the state rebate check. Come to this site and find, surprisingly, there are so many complaints. I guess, the new Carrier is no longer the old Carrier. (Just like the new Kenmore is no longer the old reliable Kenmore.) Will shop around.

"Carrier"
This unit is still running well after 40 years. I never oiled it and the place stays cool (I live in Miami). It probably uses more energy than a new unit, but I'm reluctant to get rid of it.
