I work at a heating and air company. There is no brand of a/c that does not require any servicing. Actually, most of these folks saying problems that are 8 months a part. That's very good. In fact, many other brands have needed service every few months in some cases most frequently. We know its inconvenient and you never want to not have a/c but please don't write any bad reviews because it needed fix ups! Every unit ever has probably needed fixed one way or another. As for the person who quoted 'a reputable dealer said never put Amana in your home first off why not say the dealer? Secondly any hvac dealer knows a/c units break a lot! Must of been a new guy who thought he knew it all.

I bought a replacement AC/Heating unit to replace an old unit(20yrs old) and this year the compressor went out. the install company Hixon h/a came out and replaced the compressor at no charge but told me that Amanna was charging them $50.00 for trade-in of old compressor. This model was purchased because it had a 10yr warr on the compressor and lifetime on the heat-exchanger and other heating compnets parts....I Thank Hixon for standing behind their products but shame on Amanna for charging the vendor.....

In the third summer season, I had to replace the blower motor. My neighbor had to replace his after the third summer (Amana also). The motor was covered under warranty but the labor and service call cost approx. $250.00. I will say that this Amana system is very quiet inside.
