"AMANA= HORRIBLE"
We purchased a Amana central air conditioning unit 10 years ago. We live in CO. and only use it two months out of the year. After the first year we began having problems - including many electrical components, the fan needing to be replaced and adding freon numerous times. Now, the compressor went out and we need to either replace it which is 2K or purchase a new unit. I called the compliance center which basically said there was nothing they could do. If you want to make a large investment only to continue to pay your HVAC person a few hundred every year to then have to purchase another unit after 10 years- AMANA/Goodman is your company! Save your money and time- purchase a different make

"Not Sure WHat to do with this thing"
I purchased an Amana 3-1/2 ton system in September of 2008. Since that time, the contractor has gone out of business. The contractor that took over his customers (franchise) has been out 5 times this summer alone for various issues (not cooling, freezing, supposedly dirty compressor). It's hot here in Oklahoma and the system I purchased I believe is a piece of crap, that I seem to be stuck with. If a company offers you a no lemon guarantee on these units, run!!!!!

"Will never buy Amana again"
We bought a new house with 2-5 ton Amana a/c 14 seer units. Supposedly, their best units. We closed in January 2007 and have had nothing but expensive trouble with the units. One entire unit has been replaced and rebuilt (compressor, fan motor, cooling vans, etc.) and now we are starting to have trouble with the other unit with failed cooling lines to the compressor. The Amana scam is that warranty is for replacement parts only and you get stuck with all the labor and coolant recharge costs. The unit that had the cooling vane replaced cost us almost a $1000 in labor, coolant and testing. The unit today with the failed line will cost us about $570 to replace a warranty part that failed. This set-up is criminal! What happened to building a quality product and standing behind it?

"ammana exterior air conditioner condenser package"
Base of the exterior cabinet is rusting away in chunks. Contacted Amana and sent them photos. Their determination is caused by salt water corrosion as we are next to a canal. The picture I sent showed a pipe mast that telescopes and is all rusty. That mast is 30 yrs old and was used and rusty when I put it up but that's their excuse. My question is why are the 10,000 competitive units not rusting out. Those are mounted the same way next to the salt water canals. The local dealer/installer that put it in originally says it is from a water softener. I have lived in this house since 1988 and we do not have a water softener. You are faking to back out of the responsibility for inferior steel in the units fabrication.

"Don't buy AMANA"
Every summer, it's the same thing. Top unit goes out. Then 1 week later, bottom unit goes out. I have replaced the capacitor every other year. Recharged the system every other year. Now, my fan motor just failed. Not happy about this unit as it gives me seasonal problems. Am going to proactively replace it.

"Replacing Amana A/C Compressor After 3 Years"
I've had one problem after another with my Amana a/c units. The units are just three years old and I've already had to replace a compressor on one of the units. I will never buy another home with an Amana product.

"Awful!!!!"
This thing is horrible! I paid $7,000 for new unit last summer. It made tremendous banging sounds when it switched on and off and ran very loudly. They replaced the whole thing within the first month, and this unit does exactly the same thing. It now appears to have fully died, as it is doing nothing in the Memphis heat, not coming on at all. Lemon, Lemon, Lemon!

"Mrs"
I am very disappointed with our Amana heating and air conditioner. We have 2 units; 1 for the downstairs and 1 for the upstairs. We have had Amana 3.5 years now. We have had to replace the coils every year since our home was built. The bottom units always fails at the beginning of summer and the 2nd units usually goes about about a week later. When they are working, they cool all of the rooms except the master bedroom and bath. We are now considering getting rid of these 2 lemons.

"poor unit"
This is not a central air but I bought a 8000btu room air conditioner 3years ago at Boscov. Last year, the blower stopped working. This is poor quality and a waste of money.

"LEMON AMANA AC"
Amana rce prestige 14 air conditioner LEMON! LEMON! LEMON! LEMON! We have spent close to $1000 in service tickets on this piece of crap since being installed. My AC installer stated this unit has been a major problem and Amana/Maytag is not working with the installers. WARRANTY means nothing! We still have to pay for the service ticket on the labor to replace the warranty part. It has had 6 major components replaced. Today, we are replacing a part that was replaced less than two years ago. AMANA - you are FIRED - no more dishwashers, dryers, washers from this family of 5. Remember, the rules of 20 x 5 = 100 lost customers!
