"Amana is the BOMB! Trane has aluminum coils and leaked."
I had a Carrier system upstairs and a Trane system downstairs. I have dogs and the dog hair would clog up the outdoor Trane unit so bad it always took the tech about an hour to clean it. I found out Trane has these aluminum spiny fins coil that looks like a hair brush. It can't be washed down like the Carrier with radiator type fins. The last straw was when the dogs have been peeing on the aluminum Trane coil and corroded out the aluminum coil and could no longer hold freon. I didn't know that Trane and American Standard are the same company and they both come with aluminum coils. If I knew that the Trane was aluminum tubing I would never had purchased it. The Carrier unit with copper tubing turned green but did not corrode out. I replace both systems with new 2-stage Amana 16 SEER A/C units with 2-stage 95% AFUE furnaces. The Amana works so much better than my old Trane or Carrier units. Amana is the BOMB! I recommend Amana to anybody that wants a high quality system. My contractor was great too.

"The A/C and Heating Ever!"
I just replaced my 8 year old Trane system with this new Amana 14 SEER A/C unit. They replaced the furnace with a 80% 2-stage. What a huge difference. I am really shocked to read the bad reviews about Amana. I am sure glad I used Amana and I already have had my friends install Amana too. I think after reading these reviews that how it is installed has a lot to do with it. Good Luck and I hope this helped someone.

"I Love my Amana"
I had two systems replaced in my home upstairs was Trane system, downstairs Rheem system. The Trane developed leaks in the aluminum coils outside and the Rheem was so noisy I was ashamed to turn it on. They both worked just OK and were installed by the builder when the home was built a few years ago. Now I replaced both systems with new Amama 16 SEER 2-stage A/C units with matching Amana 95% AFUE furnaces in the attic. This was the best investment and I am so pleased in getting rid of the nasty Trane and Rheem units. I save over 50% on my utility bills and these new units are now so quiet inside and out its unbelievable. The installers were the best. It took them six days and worked like dogs. I replaced all the plastic flex ducts with metal ducts and now I have so much air in each room its amazing. I really do believe that having good installers makes the difference. Amana is a great Product.

"Great Product, Great Warranty. Pick the right Company to install it!!!!!"
The most important choice when you buy a new air conditioner is the company not the brand!!!! Even the over priced Tranes will have tons of trouble if not installed by a good company that follows all the procedures. If a load calculation is not the first thing a contractor does before he gives you a price...MOVE On. you get what you pay for! I had an Energi Air (Amana) split gas system asx1436 with 80% furnace by a good company and have been nothing but satisfied. They were about $1500 higher than my other bids but again, you get what you pay for. I have 10 years parts and labor with this company, and found out through the load calculation they performed on my home that I needed a 3 ton system and not the 2.5 ton that I had. All the other "professionals" with the cheaper priced product quoted me a 2.5 ton, offered only 1 year labor, and did not do a load calculation. It was worth every penny I spent. choose the right company, not the brand.

Review:
"good A/C"
I have read somewhere that most A/C problems are caused by poor installation, and I totally believe it, I have seen some junky installations! This Amana was installed by the best technicians, and it was operating flawlessly for the past two years. The two-speed scroll compressor is great. The unit is coupled to a Goodman (same brand) two speed air handler, both working great, zero problems.

"23 yrs old"
My Amana A/C is 23 yrs old and has been running with almost no problems. The only problems I had had really came from technicians who wanted to overcharge it with freon! Last summer, for the first time, a capacitor needed replacement, and the fan motor went out. This year, I replaced a contact. All told, that is less than $1,000 spent on repairs or maintenance in 23 years on my A/C, and it has continued to cool in Texas' heat extremely well! I have no complaints. I just worry what to do when I have to replace it one year, because I know I will also have to replace my 31-yr old electric furnace because of the coolant changes!

"Amana A/C"
My Amana A/C was installed just in time for my oldest daughter's wedding in July 1987! We had the reception at the house and many family gatherings since. Only in the last year has this unit begun to show its age and I worry I may need to replace it in a few years. It is still going at 23 years old, and I doubt I have spent even $1,000 on it in that time!

"Hot Summer? Not in my house"
I can't believe what I just read about how bad Amana units are because I know better. This is my third summer with my new asx14 a/c unit with a amh95 gas furnace and I can't tell you enough how great it is. So quiet and energy efficient. Its over 103 degrees outside and my control is reading 73 inside. I am fully convinced that not only choosing the right equipment but also the installation is just as important with a quality installed duct system. The quotes that I received were thousands difference. But I read ever estimate carefully. I found a very detailed contractor that put everything in writing. His price was upper middle but I felt confident with them. The low price estimates had no details at all. When I ask for them to put more details in writing they just said "Trust me im the air conditioning man" I figured cheap price cheap job? I am retired now and don't have the extra money to waste. Do it right the first time. I feel that I got what I paid for.

Review:
"Wooo. This system rocks."
I had my AMANA (5ton 16seer) installed in our 1984sq ft, 2009, EnergyStar, Zone1, Palm Harbor home last Saturday by AveryAir out of Houston, TX. The unit that came with the home was a Builders Grade, 4ton 13seer, R22, NorDyne unit. I had a bad evap coil replaced by a contractor. He pulled a vacume (29.92) and recharged the NorDyne system to specs. The NorDyne unit would strugle to keep the home temp @ 74 degrees. This strugle would start @ 12:30pm and wouldn't end until 1:00am. At times I would come in the house and it would be 84 degrees @ or about 6:00pm. I called 3 different contractors to come out to check my unit. Everyone of them said the same thing. "Everything checks-out ok, its working fine." My electric bill said something different. I called AveryAir to come out go over everything that I have now and we came up with the 5ton, 16seer unit, $3,500 mfg rebate and a $1,500 Tax credit. This new system does not strugle, even in 109 degree heat index. The system will now cycle. It holds 74 with very little effort. I love this unit. Also, this unit is Super Quiet inside and out. It looks like I might be able to buy that new Bass boat with the savings on my electric bill. We'll see

"30 Year Tech Tells You This Advice:"
99%+ of the time, when you have compressor or other problems it's an installation issue. How can the engineers of ANY brand know what kind of idiot is installing your equipment? If it's installed according to specifications, it runs according to specifications, without problems. That is why you have excellent units (Good Installer) and troublesome units (Idiot Installer) in any brand. Amana makes some of the best A/C equipment made, and the absolute very best gas furnaces on the market.
