Review:
I recently purchased an Amana 14 Seer 4 ton ac and furnace to replace my old York system. I am disappointed in how noisy my new unit is. The installer said it is because of the new refrigerant, higher operating pressures, and most of the compressors are the same regardless of brand. I need to check the specs. for average decibel levels. Check the noise level before you buy!

Review:
We just purchased a new construction home that has 3 Amana Distinctions compressors and units. So far, we have been very unhappy with them. The compressors are very loud!! Not sure why the company write up claims them to be one of the most quiet on the market. The compressor located near our guest room, kept our guests up their entire stay. When it would click on the noise and whir was almost too much to handle. Luckily the compressor outside our master bedroom is buffered by our closet, but you can still hear it come on with a bit of a bang. I'm hoping after a few service calls to tweak or further insulate the compressors will lessen the noise. Never knew that Amana was made by Goodman. Told by my trusty HVAC guy that Goodman is no GOOD..It is builder grade. Really pissed that my brand new million dollar home has builder grade AC/Heat.

Review:
Our old York central air unit finally died, after 45 years of hard service! I had several bids, but the warranty, local distributor, and the service was best with Amana. Pricing was competitive too, but these units are not only very efficient, but they are also very quiet. This is a new unit this spring (2009), so time will tell on the quality, but the warranty that was included gives us peace of mind.......

Review:
Central air installed mid Sept. of 2005. Early July of 2008 we were forced to replace the blower motor (at a cost of $300) due to the shoddy construction of the cabinet holding the blower motor allowing the top insulation to fall down on to the blower depriving it of the air needed to operate. From the response I received from the manufacturer of the unit (Goodman Manufacturing), they don't care that they are selling inferior products. Avoid anything they make!

Review:
Our outside central units are Amana units installed in 1979. They are now very OLD so we need to replace one immediately. We are told the new ones must be in sync with the attic heating/condensor/blower units. One Amana outside unit must be replaced immediately as I feel replacing the motor would be added expense in addition to the more than 111.00 I was charged today. HOW do I get a price on just an outside Amana unit (for our kitchen end of the house) 3 or 3.5 ton unit for this Louisiana weather. We will keep our fingers crossed that the one on the bedroom side might hold on until we can replace upstairs & outside units. The attic part on the kitchen side was replaced about 5 or 6 yrs ago. One air conditioner man told us that it's so new that an inexpensive part..less than 60.00 could put it in sync with a new outside unit. ALL must be replaced on the bedroom side..attic part (old fedders heater, etc) AND the ouside Amana smaller unit (2.5 or 3.0 ton). These 2 Amana (outside) units have certainly given us outstanding service since 1979. In 2008, it will be 29 yrs of service (for the smaller Amana unit on the bedroom side)!!

Review:
In the third summer season, I had to replace the blower motor. My neighbor had to replace his after the third summer (Amana also). The motor was covered under warranty but the labor and service call cost approx. $250.00. I will say that this Amana system is very quiet inside.
